Aww nuts, I was gonna make a thread for this month's acquisitions and call it "January Jackpots" - cos every year we don't seem to have an alliteration for January's acquisition thread like we do with some other months (e.g. December decadence).
Call it a hunch, but I have a feeling that this month is going to be very quiet.

IDW Collection volume 5 arrived today.

It's just another addition to my shelf porn. (Which I'm REALLY out of room for).
I don't normally do pics but I guess this one's kinda special. As you can see he's pretty beat up, sheds chrome like a real cat sheds hair, and his legs are really loose at the hip, so if possible I'll probably send him off to one of our customiser crew at some point for some TLC and purtification.
Pics are front view, rear view, close up rear view to show his 'battle damage', and one of Ravage and MP10.
Still seems like an awesome deal to me.
Hips - easily fixable.
Chrome flaking - fairly easily fixed, but I wouldn't take advice from me on what's the best sealant.

Odie: Those aren't the original colours for Ravage's guns either. Someone's painted those silver. Here is what the guns should look like. Shouldn't be that hard to strip the paint off them. Ah well, guess we know why that toy was cheap. :D At least the damage is only cosmetic. :) Btw, did you get his tail/weapon? (the same tail-weapon that comes with Transmetal Cheetor, but in a different colour - looks like this and this. I also assume that his jets are still in tact?
The tail has been (poorly) painted black, and more irritatingly someone'sbutcheredmodded the guns.:mad:

Personally, I'd be tempted to just leave the guns as is. It doesn't look like a terribly bad paintjob on them, from the pics. Shame about the clips, but again, for that price, I'd still be happy enough with it.
But yeah, I'd definitely be getting an experienced customiser to give it a full TLC treatment program.

He has the tail, it's just been painted black and is pretty flaky is all. Whoever had him last did a pretty poor job of customising him, including mauling the guns and painting them silver. I don't mind the colour changes since they're easy to fix, but the fact the gun barrels have had parts of them cut off is pretty aggravating. X-9 was never really a grail of mine and I was quite happy with the CHUGUR Ravage for the Odieverse, but for 1050 Yen I wasn't gonna pass up the Metals version and now that I've got him I want to see him done justice dammit. If he was in halfway decent shape I'd leave him as is, but since someone's already given him a going over I figure I might as well get him fixed up properly and given a quality show-accuracy treatment.

I guess this falls into one of the somewhat 'controversial' areas of modifying or changing a toy with limited availability and high demand. I am personally against the concept of modifying vintage and rare figures as that Ravage basically means 'one less for the world to enjoy' in it's original state. I understand that it's a person's right to do with their property as they wish and respect that but that doesn't change how I feel when I see a rare toy being 'destroyed' to make another.
