The launch of TFPrime is only weeks away, and the toys are slowly leaking its way into the hands of fans... with a few of the first wave figures already being posted up on fansites.
The one of interest for Wave 1 though, as it is a new mould, is the new Cliffjumper, which for some reason warranted two versions within two waves.
A video review can be seen here.
It sounds like a store or two in the UK have jumped the gun on their release, which would be the first time ever that England weren't several months behind America. Expect to see these popping up on ebay in coming days, and in other stores in coming weeks (including here).
yeah there's a review for the second version bumblebee as well.
can I suggest a single thread for all the new TF Prime toy news? (with maybe a temporary sticky) I actually wanted to discuss all the new stuff in the forums but there are so many new topics its hard deciding which thread to post in.
Added: Soundwave review
Ugh, that 2nd version of BB isn't very nice. The Hotshot retool looks nice. I hope we get the First edition figures here, otherwise I my TF:P collection will be made up of cyberverse figures (that's not a bad thing mind you.)
hot shot retool?
See here
+1 :)
cyberverse optimus prime + variant
apparently there's a version with no faceplate
I can't have everything in the one topic for three reasons:
1 - New news posts get lost among the many pages of comment posts... it makes it a lot easier to scroll through the main table instead, or do a search, for topics of specific subject matter.
2 - Most people don't come back to a topic after they've read the first post because the majority, if not all, is expected to be just comments or essay-length debates.
3 - I need separate topics for each news items for the Weekly News emails (which archives news items).
The compromise I can offer however, is to have an "all in topic" for the Early Waves of Prime toys (while they are coming out frequently) for those who prefer to just comment once... and, each distinctly different news item (not minor updates to existing news) will be copied into its own news topic for easy locating by those who aren't much interested in other peoples comments.
This duplication will only continue while there is demand (if there is demand), and while there is a frequent number of new Prime toy info/details making their way to the fansites.
People posting a new bit of news don't have to post it twice if they don't want to, and can post it in or out of the "all in topic" - as I will be keeping track of the news postings, and will paste copies into or out of the "all in topic" as deemed necessary, or while there is demand for it.
This is pretty much in line with the guidelines for the news sections, as significantly different news deserves its own topic for recognition and awareness of the members and guests of its existence... I'm just allowing for temporary grouping of news items into one topic, like the Fall of Cybertron Topic (it was convenient for the people wanting to post comments, but I'm sure I wasn't the only one who had trouble knowing about, or finding all the news posts buried among that 241 postings topic - hence testing the idea of duplicating news posts this time).
(copied some posts here, as most of these first wave toys haven't been "revealed completely" before now)

Ugh, maybe one day they'll make a Prime Starscream with a jet mode that isn't butt ugly.
Granted the F-16 is a fugly looking jet to start with but the undercarriage has been reaching ridiculous levels on what we've see so far.
So when are we going to see these bots? I want to get the ratchet signed by the voice actor at Oz comic con.
Well, RID just hit shelves in America.
WTF BBTS? I preordered those First Editions over a month ago! :-/

Nope.
The poor deprived dears apparently missed out on the FE Voyagers.
Comparison between First Edition Cliffjumper and wave 1 version. First Edition is a great toy IMHO and I think this backs it up my opinion that it's the one to get.
Hasbro is discontinuing it's 1st edition toys. I'm not sure what this means for those of us with Preorders still unfilled at places like BBTS, etc.
I really can't understand Hasbro's reasoning here. Unless the 1st editions were somehow prohibitively expensive to produce and being sold at a loss, or negligible profit margin as a promotional tool for the series. I consider that unlikely though.

First Edition was only meant to be like the Movie Preview Waves - a short-lived, limited edition set of figures. It was just more than most had originally expected, as the Movie Preview waves only one or two toys in them.
It was even a surprise to see Tomy release them in Japan, adding to the numbers in circulation. But in the end, it wasn't part of the main toyline... just a sampling of what to expect, possibly to bridge the gap between the TF3 line and the TFPrime toyline (which probably couldn't be ready any earlier than now).
Considering the lackluster interest in the TF3 toyline, I think Hasbro would have been relieved that they decided to do these First Edition figures, as they probably thought the Movie line would still be in full swing when they started designing those TFPrime toys a year or so ago.
That pic near the end, of the Regular/RID Cliffjumper next to RtS Windcharger is scary... The Deluxe Cliffjumper is not much bigger than the Scout Windcharger.
And if we have another year of Hasbro Australia charging retailers the same price for figures as last year, we're gonna have $25-30 toys that are barely getting close to the old Scout size (which in turn, should be about $9 in today's exchange rate).
Man that scale is .. just wrong
Annoying that the FE toys are so hard to find ..
Seeing the first edition v mainline photo comparison on Cliffjumper finally made my mind up and I ordered the Takara first edition from RK.
Yeah, I preferred the RiD Cliffjumper over the FE initially but after seeing these side-by-side pics the FE does seem to be the better quality figure overall. It's a shame they couldn't combine the best elements of both toys, giving us one ultimate show-accurate Cliffjumper. *trots over to RK*
After doing a bit of reading around the subject I've come to the conclusion that the FE figures are so much better because they were designed under the Generations brief, as that was the line they were originally meant to appear in.
That was before the DOTM which brought us sparsely painted oversimplified figures with big F off guns using so much plastic that it necessitated that the core figure was smaller and less complex. TFP's mainline appears to follow this - all the figures are smaller and less complex than their FE counterparts. For example, Bumblebee and Cliffjumper.
That and the cretinous new names for size classes (Weaponiser? Please) means I'll be passing on most of this line.
First wave Botshots (US$5) and Commander class (US$6) figures found in America.
Wave 1 figures now available on BBTS.

HappyMeal TF Prime toys are now on the US mcdonalds site, looks great, but I wonder if we'll get the entire set here? Especially given that there won't be toys on the shelf and a toon airing yet.
It's not from wave 1 but eh, this thread will do. :p
Video Review of the Transformers Prime (RiD) Deluxe Class: Arcee
Back kibble and colour aside, this looks like one seriously awesome toy of a great character. :)
Im really torn with the review of Arcee
The FE one is such a better toy, but too damn tall to fit in with the rest of the FE/Prime toys while the Prime version doesn't look at good, has colour and kibble issues but fits in with the rest of the gang. Also has a nice gun that could be used by someone else.
