I'm surprised by the choice, but thrilled at the same time!
BTW I doubt we'll see a Sunstreaker retool here; their G1 forms are just too different. But expect Red Alert - probably with the red head - and maybe even Clampdown, Tigertrack & Deep Cover.
Yep, I would certainly be expecting those characters but I still think it will be too tempting for them to do a Sunstreaker from the mold despite the original differences.

I'd think so too. If it was just a Sunstreaker head on a yellow body I'm happy with that. I prefer Universe 2.0 Sunstreaker in 'Sideswipe' mode. If they designed this to be Sideswipe and Sunstreaker like the Universe 2.0 figure I would be delighted, but that's a bit unlikely.Quote:

I agree with Dirge - there's no way that is going to be retooled into anything decently-resembling Sunstreaker in robot mode, although they might stick a supercharger engine and a new head on it, recolour it yellow and call it Sunstreaker anyway. Although I'd prefer it if they just did a straight yellow recolour and call it Tigertrack or Spin-Out. They generally recolour Masterpieces into the ground, so G2 Sideswipe (fingers crossed for a bandolier accessory) would be awesome. Red Alert is inevitable. Deep Cover and Clampdown would be sound choices. Breakdown is likely. Laster and Deadwheeler would be scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Possibly similar to the Classics mold in that there are some bits that could be swapped in and out for a Sunstreaker release?

A yellow redeco would cheapen the character of Sunstreaker, and the concept of Masterpiece, as Sunstreaker's transformation would need his feet to be the front of the car, not on the chest like Sideswipe... as well as other car parts that end up in different places to Sideswipe.
Red Alert they might do, but might be just a limited edition (Ehobby) redeco though, as the character isn't significant enough story-wise to be its own Masterpiece number.
Red Alert is much more significant than Sunstorm, and a far better option for a redeco than two black Convoys and a black Rodimus, so he's already a better option than half of the existing Masterpiece redecos. Is the actual numbering that important?Quote:

G1 Sideswipe was my first ever Transformer so this is more than likely bought. While happy with this news, I would have lost my shit if they announced a MP Prowl :cool:

That's basically what we are saying. I believe that they will make this into Sunstreaker regardless of the original character differences. I would prefer a proper Sunstreaker but I don't think they would produce a whole new mold of basically the same car with a few accessories.Quote:

This is really awesome news- I will now gladly pick up mp10 and mp11. However it was mentioned elsewhere that the alt mode may be similar size to mp rodimus... if thats the case then would it be out Of scale with mp10?
If not how would they scale such autobot cars? Bigger than alternity/ classics deluxe and they would not scale with mp10 truck mode? But as those figures have shown.. A little too short in bot mode from recollection...
I hope they find a consistency of scale between alt and bot modes...
As for the sunstreaker issue, I give Takara more credit- to release a proper mould and not just a yellow sideswipe with a new head... They might milk sideswipe repaints first, aka red alert, etc..
Looking at the pic of mp12 drawing- if that is any indication of the final release then it is pretty faithful to g1- and I'm sure Takara would have accounted for a sunstreaker remold.. I hope anyway.
The biggest issue is the price point and frequency of release from this line. Previously a rumor from an insider said these were meant to be a mp sub- line (although his seems to have been designated as the next official mp). I think that although These more "minor characters" may be under a different set of uideline/policy then the past mps...although this is just my own speculation.
Glad for an unexpected character but at the same time my collection just feels incomplete without a Galvatron dammit! It'd be interesting if they did the MP Autobot cars in a smaller scale closer to Binaltech for scale - would have to assume they'd be cheaper that way as well - but i won't have any problem if he stands shoulder to shoulder with Hot Rod.

You guys don't need a new mold for an MP Prowl, they'll just repaint Sideswipe. RID Prowl was a Lamborghini and a cop car.
MP Swipe would be very nice, and the repaint possibilities are very good for Takara as well.
