any images yet?
Suggestions elsewhere are speculating that 'Swoop' could also be a figure listing for the possible FoC-Generations Dinobot figure, simply being shoe-horned in with the Japanese Arms-Micron line for that region's release.
I find this to be a rather interesting proposal, both for the possibility of such a figure but also as to the release strategy of said figures in Japan. :)
Dinobots are a possibility for Prime. The have made the first step with Insecticons. Still, will wait for pics until I get too excited.
Oh, too late!:p
Well, there hasn't been anything to suggest that they're sticking with that approach for Generations, Officially, whilst equally nothing has been said to the contrary either. :)
(As this was simply a marketing by product of running too many concurrent lines at the time, figures that were clearly aimed for Generations ended up being lumped into the movie lines)
Being that Dinobots are a rather 'Special' set of characters/figures; it's entirely plausible that they could be designing said figures with a combined FoC/Prime aesthetic which would allow them to break with the (Present/Past) 'Deluxe Only' approach to the Generations line and market the figures to both demographics (Prime/Generations). :D
To go to such lengths in bringing the Dinobots back from extinction, it's a concept I highly doubt HasTak would simply relegate to repaints; that being said I'll happily eat crow should this indeed come to pass.
At the moment, this is just a Japanese Prime Arms Micron toy named Swoop. That doesn't mean they've gone to any lengths to make it a Dinobot any more than Prime Arms Micron Soundwave was a cassette player. There is a toy coming up called Deadend who looks like this:

A name is just a name. :p

Well, thanks to both TFW2005 and The Allspark - We're all wrong. :p:D
Enter TF:Prime Swerve. :o:cool:
Quote:
The Allspark has posted that the Kanji for AM-17's name is スワーブ, which translates as Swerve, not Swoop. We can verify that this is the case - AM-17 will be a Voyager Class Autobot Swerve, not Swoop.
That makes a bit more sense really. I'd just figured they were shoehorning the WFC Dinos into Arms Micron.
Though スワーブ is katakana, not kanji.:p
It could end up just being the Japanese name for Breakdown... which we know is coming to Voyager class. They haven't got to the first episode with him in it, so I'm not sure if we know his Japanese name yet (or if Breakdown has been listed on JP pre-order lists either).
They've been pretty good with using Hasbro names in recent years, but we do have the odd one changed for no reason...
They are now reporting that it was a mistranslation. it is actually swerve
スワープ = Suwaapu or "Swarp" -> Swoop
スワーブ = Suwaabu or "Swarb" -> Swerve
Kapow Toys (the quoted source of Seibertron, Allspark & TFW's news postings) - does not say "Autobot" anywhere.
Katakana listed on Kapow - does not include the "Autobot/Cybertron" prefix
Allspark - does not add "Autobot" to the name.
Seibertron - does not add "Autobot" to the name.
Planet Iacon on Facebook - adds "Autobot", but no source is quoted. I doubt that they are an original source, as they are a Singapore site, not a JP site... so probably got the info from Kapow as well and just assumed it, because "Swoop" is a character that should be an Autobot.
TFW - adds "Autobot" to the name because of Planet Iacon, but doesn't quote them as a news source in their news posting.
Soooo, unless an "original" source comes out and says "Autobot Swerve/Swoop", I'm just suggesting that it could be either... and since our listing does already have Voyager Breakdown being listed as AM-12, this Voyager could indeed be a new mould that we don't yet know about.
Um, when were the Dinobots "extinct" :p? Between the original set and now we've had a Classic Pretender Dinobot, Action Master Dinobots, Classic Dinobots, G2 Dinobots, BW Grimlock, the Beast Machines-era Dinobots, Universe Dinobots, the Energon Dinobots, an Alternator Dinobot, Classics Dinobots, Animated Dinobots, Robot Heroes Dinobots, Titanium Dinobots, a Masterpiece Dinobot, and the Powercore Dinobots.
Hehe. ;):p
I did specifically mean the original G1 5 Member Team being extinct, but in regards to your list:Quote:
Between the original set and now we've had a Classic Pretender Dinobot, Action Master Dinobots, Classic Dinobots, G2 Dinobots, BW Grimlock, the Beast Machines-era Dinobots, Universe Dinobots, the Energon Dinobots, an Alternator Dinobot, Classics Dinobots, Animated Dinobots, Robot Heroes Dinobots, Titanium Dinobots, a Masterpiece Dinobot, and the Powercore Dinobots.
- Classic Pretender Dinobot - (Is a single G1 Grimlock evolution)
- Action Master Dinobots - (Are 2 G1, non-transformable evolutions of: Grimlock & Snarl)
- Classic Dinobots - (Simple re-releases of the G1 figures still within G1's life-time)
- G2 Dinobots - (Odd coloured repaints of the G1 Grimlock, Slag & Snarl molds)
- BW Grimlock - (Is a single G1 Grimlock evolution that bares little resemblance beyond text based fiction)
- Beast Machines-era Dinobots - (None of whom were based on any of the original G1 characters, neither in colour or personality)
- Universe Dinobots - (Beast Wars mold repaints baring only a parsing resemblance & comprising Grimlock & Swoop)
- Energon Dinobots - (The 1st 2 proper armages to the original Dinobots, only consisting of Grimlock & Swoop)
- Alternator Dinobot - (A Ford Mustang evidently looks very much like a Pre-Historic, Bi-Pedal Therapod Dinosaur huh? :p - Again, Grimlock)
- Classics Dinobots - (Minicons that bore no resemblance in name or personality except for Swoop & a G1 Pretender Grimlock armage)
- Animated Dinobots - (The 2nd proper armage of the original team, ending up as Dino-dolts with an aesthetic to match and only consisting of 3 members)
- Robot Heroes Dinobots - (The 3rd proper armage, only comprising Grimlock & Snarl - Non-Transformable effigies)
- Titanium Dinobots - (Consisting of a single Comic-based, Pre-Earthen version of G1 Grimlock)
- Masterpiece Dinobot - (The 1st true armage of a G1 Dinobot, once again Grimlock)
- Powercore Dinobots - (Scarcely released toys of whom weren't in any way the core G1 team)
Perhaps I should've been more clarative in my original post;
We've never received a complete set of figures homaging all 5 original G1 Dinobot Team members, none of the figures which have come in the past (Since the original 5 Dinobot Molds) has come close to offering a complete team/set of figures nor any being as cool as what High Moon Studios has designed (Beyond MP Grimlock) - Never has HasTak had a better opportunity to reproduce the entire G1 Dinobot Team in an updated/modern fashion.
Now that I've successfully derailed the thread :o:p, back to the topic at hand...
Voyager Breakdown or a repaint/retool of that figure?
I see what you mean. Far, far too many Grimlocks. Please Hasbro/TakaraTomy we don't need another Grimlock toy. :p
Give us a new Gears toy instead. Swerve is close but still not quite there.
It's been confirmed Swerve is a repaint of breakdown (source:http://www.robotkingdom.com/services...=us&CatID=91_1)
+ Jet Vehicon (source:http://www.robotkingdom.com/services...s&CatID=41_265)
no colour pics of either just yet, hell the jet vehicon uses the same silhouette as the car vehicon.
oh and Hursti it homage, not armage mate
Did someone say Transformers Prime Voyager Swoop?
