Mp-10 Is Getting Ridiculous

I mean really now http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=290853458688 who in the right mind would bid on that ? i get it he's a good figure but with no metal, electronics , finger atriculation , and smaller than mp-1.

He's not worth more than 130 dollars ( the price i got him for ) especially considering he's still available for that price in Melbourne i seriously believe people are buying into the hype if you have mp-4 or mp-1 theirs no point in purchasing him just get the nemesis prime version or wait for the inevitable perfect edition re release.

What do you guys think ? do i have a point or am i the minority here ???

I think it's pretty safe to say that most wouldn't get it anyway, since most of us who want one have one. I still don't and I think it's worth the $150 myself.
I'll be getting mine soon (hopefully) so yeah.
I don't think that many would be enraged by this, since it doesn't apply to many.

I do want one but I have MP-01 and MP-04 already so it hasn't been high on my buy list. I didn't even see it in the shops in Perth TRU's. If they wish to bring these items in limited numbers to Australia that's fine, I won't run around like a blue-arse fly as this just ends up being a waste of petrol, I also won't pay scalper prices for something that should have been readily available on the shop shelf. If it gets restocked and sells at a reasonable price I will more than likely pick it up, If it doesn't I'm sure my life won't come to a screeching halt because I don't own an MP-10.;):)

What he said, but I'm leaning more towards picking one up with all the new MP's being more in scale. (even though scale isn't that big a deal in transformers.) also, all the podcasts I listen to rave about it so my curiosity is gradually going to get the better of me.

I think $150 is a fair price for that toy (less is always better of course :D), but not more than that.

Honestley the mp-10 mold is far superior in most ways, a perfect evoloution of the mp01/04 mold. very much worth getting.
I was very content paying 250 for the takara release and 150 for the domestic

i think the reason they re-released him was to bring OP into scale with the rest of the line (not counting Mega and Ultra..........yet)

I got MP01, then skipped MP04 because I didn't want to pay $200 (or $250 if that was the price at Target (I don't remember, but that sounds about right)) for the same toy with a trailer (and no Roller). actually no if you watch the g1 cartoon optimus and megatron were much larger than other transformers especially in the older seasons and metal represents ,durability , and support metal feet stabilize the figure ,rubber tires make it roll ,better size makes it look more impressive.

i agree with most of your points well said indeed
i still believe that the reason people think mp-4 is too big is because of limited articulation and thickness if they kept the figure a bit shorter thinned it out proportioned the legs fixed the back but kept the gimmicks then it would be perfect.

I also find mp-10 ironic considering that mp-4 was called perfect edition.

I have both MP01 and Hasbro's MP10, and I think both moulds have their pros and cons. Overall the MP01 mould is a better toy in terms of all the really cool features they packed into it (suspension on the wheels, suspension on the ankles, pistons, vents, flip up comms panels, moving mouthplate, LED gimmick for the Matrix, greater articulation etc.) -- MP01 seriously gave you a lot of bang for your buck! The MP10 cab-robot doesn't quite give you that same bang, but it is a very nice and tight looking robot... the robot mode doesn't have anywhere NEAR as many features as MP01, but the truck mode does look better (in terms of the main front cab half -- the rear section (formed by the legs) looks better on MP01 which is nowhere as uber-chunky as MP10's). I found the trailer on MP04 to be a bit too plain, whereas MP10's is nicer IMO, and of course it comes with Roller and Spike. :)

In Japanese it's called 完全版 ("Kanzenban") which can also mean "complete" (which is a more literal translation*)... which is also ironic because it was missing Roller! I don't care if it doesn't come with Spike or whatever... but Roller! :p

I thought a better use of that word was with the original 2001 reissue of G1 Megatron (also called "Kanzenban") - because that came with all the same accessories as the original G1 Hasbro Megatron (scope, silencer, stock), and it came with the sword and bullets from the Japanese version. To me, that made it a "complete" version of G1 Megatron. :) The later TFC reissue came with the Energon flail - but none of the original Megatrons came with that (it was more like a "bonus" accessory), so I don't considering it absolutely necessary to make a "complete" G1 Megatron toy. ;) I certainly couldn't justify buying another reissue just for the flail (I later got eHobby Megaplex who comes with that same flail (in different colour) anyway :cool:)

i know it's too late for mp-1 but i still feel these problems could have been averted if they just made lambor bigger instead of smaller and the changes i listed are not the same as mp-10. mp-10 has problems witch the mp-1 mold did not and vice versa a fusion of the two would be incredible.

People seem to forget MP-01 was the original scale for this line, It was later that they did reduce the scale down and pretty much removed just about all the metal, It's called a cost cutting exercise so they could keep their profits up. Don't kid yourself into thinking this was anything else, Has/Tak is a business and nothing more, If this line stops making money there will either be more cost cutting or it will disappear all together.

Yes, and no. IIRC MP01 was designed as a stand-alone piece not in scale with anything, with later MPs coming after the fact when HasTakTom realised there was a market for the line. MP10 and all subsequent MPs have been designed as part of a revamped/rebooted line with a more consistent scale, roughly to scale with MP09 Rodimus in robot mode and apparently MP10 as the 'base' scale character. Cost-cutting and money-grubbing doubtless played their part, but there's a bit more to it than that too.

Thats not true mp-1 was labeled mp-1 implying their were going to be more masterpiece megatron is in scale with mp-1 mp-03 is in scale with mp-1 mp-2 is in scale with mp-1 the only ones not in scale are girmlock the seekers and rodimus from the old masterpieces and rodimus and rodimus was the start of the reboot anyway and maybe the seekers were meant to look that way just soldiers for megatron hell if leaders weren't large then any decepticon would overthrow megatron.

:confused:Really, Stand Alone? I considered MP-01 through to MP-05 in the same scale as the seekers were always smaller than Optimus or Megatron (Not forgetting Magnus as well) so I would consider that a consistent scale.

That metal everyone is so desperate for is why MP-02 became a floppy unstable piece of crap after a few years. (The only MP I ever got and planned on getting until the I saw Sideswipe).

I'd seen mentions of similar problems, but maybe I'm just very unlucky, or Target got a bunch of dodgy stock (well, I did buy it in Geelong :P), but about two years ago I suddenly found him starting to get looser and struggle to hold himself up. It was very disconcerting. He took up enough room when he was brand new let alone posed awkwardly so not to topple.

The seekers were smaller, but they were never that small, I'm looking at them right now and the seekers don't even come up to Prime's upper torso. Prime looks like a hulking giant robot comparatively, I don't think they gave much thought to scale with each other at all. And then there are there altmodes which are totally of scale.

alt modes are still out of scale (thankfully too) i would hate to imagine an inscale masterpiece superion

Yeah, I don't have any issues with floppiness with my MP01 either. He has balance issues due to being top heavy, but not from being floppy. It's not a terrible balance issue, but I stand him up the back so he can lean backwards just to be sure. ;)

IIRC means 'If I Remember Correctly' - I may well be wrong, but I seem to recall MP01 being designed as a celebration of some anniversary (20th? I forget) of the Transformers line, to be the 'ultimate Optimus Prime' or somesuch. Again, my memory isn't always 100% reliable, but I do seem to recall MP01 being more about "Hey, let's make an awesome Optimus Prime toy" than "Dudes, people would totally buy Bluestreak in this size-class".

You remember correctly. All the toys released in 2004 had that "20th Anniversary" logo on them. Hasbro did the same thing too (different logo).
Examples of Takara's logo:
MP01 (top right hand corner)
Super Link Grand Convoy, Super Mode (top left hand corner)
Binaltech Tracks (top left hand corner)
Examples of Hasbro's logo:
MP Optimus Prime (bottom centre on front, top right hand on back)
