They look awesome, better than the lambos even.
Just saw this on BBTS! Absolutely fantastic and I'll be preordering both. Only concern is the shoulder cannons that are present on Bluestreak, but I don't see them on Prowl.
But I'm quibbling! These look great!
I think im in love :D
Just... WOW. I'll certainly be buying both of these! :)
Damn these look great...I held out so hard not to buy "repaint characters" in G1 like Red Alert. Looks like I have to get Blue Streak maybe even Smokescreen..:(
Prowl didn't have shoulder cannons in the cartoon.

It's interesting to see that Prowl doesn't have the shoulder cannons on the JP version, since TakaraTomy seem to be more "Toy" Masterpiece, while Hasbro is the one who's more "cartoon" Masterpiece. As such, I'd expect Hasbro to leave off the shoulder cannons to match the cartoon... but among the Toy-themed TakaraTomy MPs, Prowl might look out of place without the missile launchers.
Seems Smokescreen is delayed until 4th quarter
Good for the wallet, and for hopes of substantial remoulding!
Ooooh they do look nice. It's a shame that my refined collection of masterpieces and alternators is slowly being replaced, but luckily it's for some worthy figures.
Keep 'em coming I say.
They do look pretty cool, but I'll still pass for now. We're getting the Autobot Car lineup done fairly quickly.;)
Wow! So true to G1. It's like they've been taken straight out of the cartoons. Like the look of these much more than Red Alert/Sideswipe
Wow, these guys look awesome and continue the aesthetic established with Lambor and Alert. Prowl is more or less my first Autobot and Transformer, technically Seaspray also has claim to that title, but he was more of a random gift.
I'm not surprised they didn't include the missile launchers given they are going for show accuracy. It will be interesting to see how much that re-tool Smokescreen to get him toonlike.
I think this got reversed around the time MP Grimlock came out. The latest TakTom MP's have features like Alert's fake shoulder wheels to make them look more toon like. Whenever I pick up my Lambor, Alert or Soundwave I can hear the G1 cartoon theme in my head.
Very impressive. Definitely on the agenda.
In. Love.
:eek::eek:
OMG! Thankfully I have already pre-ordered all of them so won't be missing out on these guys at all.:D
So... should I pre-order these suckers now or wait for Hasbro versions? Cos on one hand I don't want to get the TakTOM versions and then later find out Hasbro's releasing 'em at a much cheaper price like what happened to Soundwave... but then on the other hand, I've heard rumours that Hasbro don't have the licensing for these vehicles so they may not be able to release these MPs at all. Hmm... I'm erring on the side of TakTOM. Especially if I can get a good preorder discount (e.g. I ended up saving a LOT of money by pre-ordering MP Soundwave and the Cassettes -- I paid $45 more than the Hasbro RRP whereas I would have paid $200 more if I'd paid regular TakTOM RRP).
P.S.: Just checked Amazon Japan... no search results found...
No Japanese online retailers I know of have put up pre-orders yet.
I wouldn't count on a Hasbro release for there guys...
Yeah I'm waiting for them too ;); Seeing these photos have really made me reconsider my previous stance , I'm not really a fan of Prowl & Co (That's not to say I dislike them though :)) but these just look like excellent toys and who could turn down a Transforming Datto? :D
I like. But i don't feel i want to pay the price bbts is charging. Might look elsewhere. But i definitely want these 3.
Try Robot kingdom - $59.99 each but another $20 postage.
I guess BBTS are looking to cover their own freight costs (even though they'll bulk order) with that as a start price. I started ordering items from RK as I figure they're manufactured in Asia, why buy an item that's already been shipped from Asia to the US then back to Oz? Might as well just ship from Asia to Oz.
As soon as I had in hand my Sideswipe and Red Alert I knew these 3 could only be made with the same quality of engineering.
As amazing Soundwave is, I've found that I prefer to play more with Sideswipe & Red Alert, & it will be the same the 3 Datsuns.
These are looking pretty good. I've never really been a fan of Autobot cars but I was incredibly impressed at the engineering when I finally caved and picked up MP-12. Even with the figure in hand it's hard to believe they somehow managed to cram the entire robot inside the car. Looks like the elbows are double jointed and the ankles have a reasonable range of tilt too, which were the main issues I had with MP-12. :)
Looking at Prowl in Robot mode, it looks like they've changed his hand mould slightly from MP-12/14. Prowl's index finger looks like it sticks out a fraction now, like it's resting on a trigger. The fingers still look like they're moulded as a single non-articulated block but if this is the case it might help his hands look a bit more dynamic.
Prowl is my favourite Autobot next to Grimlock and Tracks, so this is an easy buy for me. Preorder............. placed  (that's my Fathers Day present shopping done :p)
Same old collectors conundrum, you can buy it now and risk kicking yourself when a cheaper one comes out, or it gets discounted. Or you can wait for the toy to meet your preferred price, but risk kicking yourself because you missed out.
Welcome to collecting. :p
I guess it all depends how much you want the toy, as always.
To qoute the late, great Macho Man, Oooohhh Yeeeaahh!
I seem to remember there being a hassle with Amazon Japan shipping TFs to Oz? From memory they'll ship books and dvd/bluray but not TFs?
Either way, for the sake of $16 I'm happy with a preorder from RK. Although I must say I will be curious to see if there will be an extra accesory and what that might be. I'm only a little concerned about Prowl's currently absent shoulder launchers. If Takara sticks with cartoon accuracy, they might not be present at all, and I don't want to have to fork out to a 3rd party, nor do I want to have to potentially pick up a later, toy accurate Hasbro release.
Now for pure speculation, what would be the odds of Hasbro releasing the three Datsuns in one pack for say $150? Just thinking of upcoming Soundwave and minions being grouped together, why bot for the Datsuns?
Very nice!
That is true. Amazon.jp do not ship toys outside of Japan. The casual mention of it makes it sound like it is possible for us, but the posting should have mentioned that those toy items are purchased by a Japanese resident, who then has to post it onto Australia.
The rest of us have to resort to more expensive sources, so it isn't very sporting to have those cheaper prices at Amazon.jp shown off all the time, to those of us who have to pay more.
Anime Export has them for about $40 (30% off) but their pre-order sold out straight away.
Looks like getting these at a decent price is going to be tough. :(
That's why I only got Sideswipe and not Red Alert. Though I loved Sideswipe, I didn't believe the quality of the figure or the size for that matter warranted the price tag so was not willing to pay that amount again for a recolour of the figure, even if it was Red Alert whom I have a soft spot for. I may find myself in the same position with these guys - perhaps just buying Prowl but not the other two (unless my finances magically improve)
