I really want to get more than 1 now...
That's a really impressive figure. Love the sculpt
I'm in for 2
I can't wait for this :D
Hopefully we will get a few repaints out of this mold as well
He was repainted into Slicer. Often. (1991, 2010, 2012). And they don't need to keep the original product advertising on a toy - just look at Jazz, Smokescreen, etc. They could still remould the head and adjust colours. They released Marlboro Man Jack's colours as Hyperspeed Wheeljack a couple of years ago.
with regards to retools, the Sideswipe and Prowl molds all feature new heads for the other characters. So if Takara were going to - Malboor/Malboro Wheeljack would be a pretty good choice with the unique head.
As for Tobacco, there are reforms but they do heavily smoke over there and I still have to insist that the MP line is for adult collectors anyway and is simply too good to give to children :p
Often, try once and that was only his Action Master that got repainted not the real mold. http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Slicer
And, as I said, twice more in 2010 (Shattered Glass Wheeljack/Botcon Slicer) and 2012 (Dark Energon Wheeljack). This is the Masterpiece line, where they love to release black Optimus Primes, black Rodimus Primes and green seekers - they're not going to let an opportunity to reuse a mould go by. They haven't had the original Wheeljack mould since 1991, if they did we would have had E-Hobby Slicer and Marlboor years ago.
One Slicer toy as a straight redeco of Wheeljack (1991), one Slice(r) toy as a redeco of a toy (Downshift) that was allegedly supposed to be Wheeljack (2010), and a redeco Wheeljack toy that homages Slicer (2012).
So in a way, you're both right... as there are three "Slicer" toys or homages, but only one that was a redeco named as Slicer of a toy named as Wheeljack.
Just give me a Marlboro Lancia now! Or at least a Reprolabel set, i'll settle for that
:p
$20 says that we will see a Slicer repaint. We're getting G2 Sideswipe FFS :)
True, I think I'd prefer an "unmarked" Marlboro version though. :)
Also, I think people have forgotten about the obvious deco reference on Transformers: Prime, Cyberverse (Legion Class) - "Hyperspeed" Wheeljack. ;)
Skyshadow mentioned the Hyperspeed homage to Marlboor a couple posts up. ;)
It shows there's a bit of interest in it, so worth being a release if it is no longer an obscurity.
I would consider getting a Malboor MP Wheeljack if the price was right. ;) Although I'd like to see them create it as a wholly new character instead of just "Hyperspeed Wheeljack." That's something that I enjoyed with the eHobby 'Transformerised' reissues of Diaclone/Microman toys. :o
That would be funny, and an in-joke for fans to replace the cigarette wording/logo decos... even if they had to create a mouth to do it.
But it would have to be exclusive to Japan for the "adult collectable market" - because Hasbro HK wouldn't wouldn't risk the publicity of appearing to promote smoking on a kids toy.
If Philip Morris allows the use of the red white chevron logo on a toy I will saute and eat my hat.
Ciggy companies have even gone back to vintage race cars and removed or replaced brand logos.
The toys would have the Hasbro logo on them, which would mean the bad publicity would come back to Hasbro headquarters (America).
At least if it was a TakaraTomy product, the media and "proactive" parents might try to stir up an issue by way of the "Transformers" Brand, but easily deflected by Hasbro as they can just point out that it isn't their Transformers.
Another beautiful image comparing Wheeljack in robot mode to the other MP cars.
Man, Takara is killing me, I can't wait until August to get my hands on Wheeljack.
now all you have to do is to see a bumble bee silhouette
How awesome does this look!! YEAH!!! :)

Magnet gun of the right shoulder of the MP-20 foil Jack is supposed to be able to give them some elevation, pulling out the missile part. It is a gimmick that can be used to reproduce such as Episode 15 of "The Rise of Atlantis!"
(giving Wheeljack its own topic from the joint one with Bumblebee, as more individual info is being released on just Wheeljack now)
One of the TakaraTomy designers (Shogo Hasui) has revealed some info on the upcoming Wheeljack, and the licensing of the Masterpiece line, translated from a Japanese blog posting.
Quote:
- MP Wheeljack's colour scheme in vehicle mode is close to the real car, but he tried to make the robot mode's colours as close to the cartoon as possible.
- WJ's shoulder cannon can be attached to the car roof.
- WJ's Wings on the back do not require detaching when transforming.
- Thanks to Tomica (Tomy's Hot Wheels size, real vehicle base toy car series) it has become much easier to negotiate with car manufacturers. (I assume easier than when dealing with them as Takara, since Tomy has long-established connections thanks to Tomica)
- The sales of MP Lambor to Streak were excellent, and as a result, Smokescreen could have additional parts, and Wheeljack could be developed without considering re-purposing the mould.
- The first 3 real vehicle MPs were meant to be "Super Cars".
its nice they could budget for wheeljack without difficulty but if they don't do the malboor wheeljack that'd be crazy.
but i feel that its highly likely with tigertracks & g2 sideswipe out and the 'blue' bluestreak on the way.
