Via Hoyts Facebook page, Win a chance to interview the star of Age of Extinction: Mark Walhberg.
So we are getting more pieces of the puzzle, that was first hinted at about a week ago.
The details from the Hoyts page, so that no one else has to spend half an hour reading through the conditions and requirements.... :(
First, you have have to be 18 years old.
Second, you need to be on Facebook to "like" the Hoyts facebook page.
Then, submit an entry to the link Paulbot noted, with “If you could ask Mark Wahlberg one question, what would it be?”
The most interesting answer will be chosen, not one at random.
You have nine days to enter, starting from Friday the 9th, with entries closing 11.59pm Sunday the 18th.
A winner will then be selected midday Monday the 19th, and contacted by phone and email.
The winner must respond by 5pm that day, or the prize is forfeit and another winner is chosen.
The winner will get a return flight for two people to Sydney (from a capital city if not in Sydney), plus 2 nights accommodation, and transport to the event (which is still yet to be determined). No other expenses are covered by the prize.
The condition of acceptance is that you are available for travelling on the 21st and 23rd of May, and be at the interview of the 22nd in Sydney. If you are unable or unwilling to do any part, the prize will be awarded to someone else, as the winner looks to be a promotional tool, so you need to be there and sign a legal consent to them using your image, etc. (and can't transfer it to someone else if you cant)Quote:
Return flights for 2 people to Sydney RRP $2000.00
Airport Transfers RRP $220.00
2 night accommodation for 21st and 22nd May 2014 RRP $800.00
Transfers from the winners hotel to the junket location RRP $40.00
A chance to interview Mark Wahlberg – This experience is money can’t buy!
Total prize value: $3060.00
There is also a condition that if the promotional event does not go ahead, the promoter will still award something of equal or greater value (probably still fly you into Sydney and have 2 nights stay at the fancy hotel they had booked).
I want to see some of these major movie prizes end up in the hands of the dedicated fans here, like with a lot of the competitions for the last movie... so go forth and enter, and I hope someone here wins.
(wow... 2 nights accommodation for $800? Even if it was 2 separate rooms for you and your friend, that's still $200 per night... which would be a pretty decent hotel)
It's an interesting promotion, I'm not so sure I have any burning questions for Mark Whalberg, especially after listening to the last few episodes of Preorder66.
I don't have enough leave to afford 2 days of work either.
come to think of it, over 18 and not working two days in the middle of the week, that's a pretty small competition pool, pretty good odds of winning, get in there folks, if you can take those days off.
My question to him would be.....'Did you need to take acting lessons as a requirement for your role in Age Of Extinction?' :D
Me too... I guess that makes us the last two people on earth not on Facebook. :p
Consideringsomemany of the past actors in the TFs movies were there for looks not their acting skills, I'd be more inclined to ask if Wahlberg had to "dumb down" his acting skills to play a part in AOE.
(actually, with his physique he's probably just there to draw in more female viewers, like the main ladies of the last three were just there to draw in the horny teens... not make a difference to the plot ;) )
For anyone wanting to see if Wahlberg is hired for movie roles for his acting ability or his physical appearance... the movie Boogie Nights is on TV on Thursday. :p
Anyone here actually enter?
It would be good if someone here does... and then see how much he knows about Transformers (if they let you ask more than your entered question).
I entered.:) got no chance of winning with the question I asked but it got approved so never know.:D
I don't have facebook. I would of made one just for it, but it probably would of ended up looking like a dud account. Had one a couple of years back, but it was constantly being hacked. Be awesome if someone hear wins though :D
So I just got a call from Nova, saying that I have won tickets to this...
:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D:D
Anyone else going?
That's amazing... you are very lucky.
You and whoever goes with you are the only non-media people who should be attending. (the rest at the secret event should just be invited media)
So we expect to see a report and maybe photos if they allow it. ;)
Lucky you are in Canberra, so you at least get to use the free flights.
I emailed Hoyts on Friday about the event, to see if it was accessible to the public or fans at all, but was told yesterday that it is a secret private event, so details will only be shared to the invited media and the winner of the competition.
Possibly the best place to post this:
Just saw an ad for Ten's The Project tomorrow night and Mark Wahlberg will be a guest. Clips from the AOE trailer shown so he should be promoting the movie.
It's unlikely there'll be any "news" but you never know.
I saw an ad about him on some show as well. With him being in the country for a couple days, he should pop up on a number of shows as a featured guest... not because of the TFs movie, but because of it being him. (they'll still mention the movie, but interviews will be about all sorts of things just to have his face on their promos)
It sounds like there must have been other fans able to attend, or competitions, as reports have been posted on TFW and on youtube, showing that it was held at a Cinema complex (It should be at a Hoyts, but I saw Event in the background of one of the shots - does anyone recognise it, or heard where it was at?).
There was a black (red) carpet, fenced off for spectators and media, visual cardboard displays, a screening of the 10-minute advanced footage that has been screened at other global events, followed by the Q&A. They were also giving out free stuff as well, of toys and booklets.
Considering the set up, at a public location, I'm not sure why Hoyts were telling me that it was a secret, private event that was not for Fans. The TFW report says that there were fans (and he was obviously another fan there, as MayzaPrime was going), and the theatre they screened the footage was full of people.
At least the marketing company for the first movie promotions actually looked up the fan-community to get as many of us at an event that wouldn't exist without the dedication of the fans over the years.
Whoever the marketing company was for this promotion, obviously thought the fans aren't worth bothering about when they have to target the mass media (who are mostly there for Mark, not Transformers).
A bit annoyed by the handling of that... as there are quite a few here who would have liked to have at least gone to the black carpet entrance, even if it was just for a few minutes, just to witness the event and atmosphere.
On Facebook (but should be visible to the public), there's a photo gallery and a video*
* The video has scenes from AOE that I've not seen before, but I've only watched the Teaser trailer so it might be stuff from the most recent trailer.
It was at the George St cinema in the CBD, so people would have gathered while they were setting up everything during the afternoon. (I didn't see anything noted on the Facebook page to tell fans to go to it, or a competition... so Hoyts must have been the giving out more free tickets, as most of the cinema crowd were not media)
That's a shame. I really would've considered going.
I would have too if I lived in Sydney.
And I would have liked to have helped promote it, just to get more of the fans there that Mark will have to deal with (or avoid) more often after July. Help get him desensitised by us... ;) :p
Check me out!!! The have put footage of the event wrap up
I am in the shot at 2.56 mins in

Yeah he was sitting in front of us, thats why we got in the footage.
The 15 mins of footage was awesome as well, but I am not going to say anything in this thread.
Good to hear that you got to the event Mayzaprime and enjoyed it.
There's a fans transcript of the 15 minutes somewhere (I think it was on a blog), so do a search for the Hoyts competition and you might find it.
I thought it was odd that it was a Hoyts competition, but Event cinemas hosted the event, despite being their main competition.
It was also a Nova 969 (Sydney radio) competition, that is how I won.
The show bags all came with a Custom Kreon... I somehow managed to come away with all 6 custom Kreons... ;)
I also heard the Merrick Watts sit-down on the radio with Mark.
Is he on Nova? I don't pay that much attention to who's broadcasting fron where these days
