Doesn't particularly interest me, but if I ever did get one, I'd take a photo of him beating the tar out of one of the Mini-Con Star Sabre teams; cos as the saying goes... ;) :p
I think this is one of those rare (or not so rare) cases where the grey prototype is gonna look better than the finished product :p
I still kinda want one though, it's like a non-transformable figure that you can fold away and fit conveniently in your pen cup or desk drawer. :D
Thats cool, will have to get one.
Very posable and Revoltechish.
Don't like Prime as a pen tho.
This does look pretty cool. There were transforming pens back in the 80s, I'm a little surprised it's taken this long for someone to rehash the idea. It looks like it'll be small too, 143 mm in pen mode.
That's actually pretty awesome. I want one.
If nothing else my students will go nuts for it.
It'd be something fun to freak the students out with.
It's going to look horrible in pen mode, yet it still will end up a better figure overall than most movie figures! :D
That is awesome :D and just where might I get one of these when it comes out?
So let me get this right. In alt mode, OP is good for scribing meeting minutes.
What next? OP as Paper, Rock & Scissors (quadruple changer). :p
I'm actually quite enamored by this. Can anyone with the ability to read Japanese tell me where I should go to buy one? It didn't link on the source page either.
They should do a Megatron gun pen version too. They will go well together. Pen is ugly though I must say. :o
See post #2 ;)
I want one.
I might order him since I already have some weird Prime's, KP Convoy and Gari Gari Prime to be exact. This Prime would be a good addition to those two.
54.99 at bbts lol. Comes in original red convoy and nemesis prime colours.
You can buy a packet of 20 or so pens from Kmart for $3...just saying.;)
I hope thats a place holder price. I won't pay that much.
Not sure if this has been posted before... as I couldnt find it...
but anyway... Another Convoy transforming to a Pen

That's the same one, just some different robot poses. Damn ugly looking pen I have to say. Doesn't look comfortable on the slightest!
Looks nice.
going to give the benefit tof the doubt and say that BBTS have just marked up the price ridiculously because they are BBTS.
It may depend on the purchasers perspective - is this a convoy that happens to have an alt mode as a pen, in which case they could probably convince completists to part with a higher amount. But if this is a pen (a very ordinary and small looking pen) that converts to a very posable but very plastic looking convoy (I know its only at prototype stage but given the size scale, there just isn't that much material and good paint job only covers so much) I don't see how they can expect people to part with $55 USD, plus postage.
For me, if it was about $20 postage included I'd be in, but at this price point, I'm both disappointed and out.
I'm not sure that 'useability' is really the point here.;)
I'm actually more concerned about how they're integrating the 'pen' function into the toy. If it's a replaceable pen/pen-holder-type deal then that's cool, but if the pen is part of the toy such that once it runs dry then that's not so good IMO.
And yeah, hope it's way cheaper than that. I'd be willing to go up to 3000円 or so but $55 is a tad steep.
Colour Pics!

Optimus Prime
Ultra Magnus
Nemesis Prime
unfortunately they're all just under 4000Yen
Ha ha! Yeah, I know, just sayin' is all ;) :D
Looks like the pen piece is attached to the foot, hopefully it can be changed, you'd expect a pen for 4000y to be refill... Normally. AT that price I wouldn't bother with all 3, Optimus and maybe Nemesis... Thats a big maybe.
Robots look really nice though!
In terms of functionality, the thicker pen would be useful in teaching a person with adult sized hands how to use a correct pen grip when writing. It amazes me the number of teenagers (and even adults) who cannot write with a correct tripod grip. Preschoolers and early primary kids use those thick and triangular pencils to teach them the correct grip. Whenever I see people handwriting with the incorrect grip I notice either the slower pace with their writing, and/or the additional physical strain that's required when they write. Needless to say I often see senior students straining their hands/wrist when doing sustained writing tasks (e.g. examinations), often because they can't hold their bloody pens properly!
Having said that... this would be a pretty expensive corrective writing implement. It'd be cheaper just to get those triangular rubber grips that would do the same job. :p But hey... if you happen to want a Transformer pen and you happen to need pen grip correction, then this super-thick pen might serve a practical purpose for you. ;)
I think the pen is integrated into his cannon and clamped between his feet in alt mode. The ink reservoir is going to be tiny but people are not exactly buying this because it's a pen.
Just ordered from HLJ. ¥3,582 is a much better price than the $55 BBTS want. And he should arrive around the same time as my Mega Drive Megatron so I'll save on shipping. :D
Dammit...they look really good, but they're so expensive and if the pen is the gun then they'll run dry in no time.
I'll probably spring for one, but I would have really liked to get more if they'd been more affordable. Also liking the look of the Magnus one most, but it's less iconic and more expensive.
a big rectangle pen? most pens are cylinder shape for the comfortability. I don't think this pen will be comfortable to use for long periods of time. You can clearly see the bot mode in their alternate mode! oh and a white prime repaint for magnus!?!?!
Small ink well, which is why they made three colours! How considerate of them. On the plus side, Sentinel have been impressing me with their (expensive) robot as of late, so at least it'll be a nice figure.
Yeah, I'm not about to spend $40 on a pen even if it can transform... The whole idea is silly. It looks as if they are running out of ideas, unless there will be a whole line of these stationary figures.
