Ebay password issues

For those who were watching the news a few days ago, there was said to be a hack/breach of Ebay security, and we were told to change our passwords.

I tried logging into ebay today and it is forcing me to reset my password, but it isn't working.
It says that it will send an email for me to follow instructions to reset the password, but no matter how many times I click to resend the email, nothing shows up (and I started this about 3 hours ago).
It does note my partial email address as being correct (it has my domain name being correct, so even if someone had changed the bit before the @ in my ebay profile, I should still get all emails to that domain).

And calling up the help line has a recorded message saying that it will be a 44 minute wait... I can't sit on a mobile phone for that long. :(

Has anyone else had any problems?

I've reset my password with no problems.

Just finally got an email to update the password... and have changed it.

Something others need to do, and maybe be aware that there could be issues resetting it (or it was just my bad luck).

Sounds like just bad luck there Griffin. I changed mine without issue. Just a quick note for those who use the sniper apps, don't forget to change your password there too. Don't use them but have heard some grumbles from those who do and forgot this little step.

It was probably just lots of people trying at the same causing some email queing

I was able to change it fine, but sometimes email gateway servers send emails with some delays.

I've reset mine before the email from ebay came cause I heard the news from the radio on the way to work before it became more widespread.

I haven't reset mine. Don't use it all that often anymore. It's only eBay and nothing to do with Paypal so there's not much they can steal apart from my name and address which is listed anyway...

Had to change ours too but there wasn't any fuss beyond having to come up with something that'd fit their new criteria for passwords, I think I went through close to 7 variations before landing upon one they'd accept! :p

Soooo... how many digits did you have to put at the end of "SoundwaveRulz" before it would accept it? :p

I hate changing passwords! Always forget them.:o

I reset mine no probs - I didn't even twig until I read this thread that others had had to and ebay did it all because of a security problem :o

I can't help but think this is part of the PRISM program the USA government & affiliated bodies are using to hoover up our information.

(How many of us have already forgotten our new password). :rolleyes:

Pretty annoyed that they haven't emailed out this info, I only heard about it a couple of days ago off the news....

The email notification has indeed been pretty woeful; We changed our password the day that local media started reporting it but we noted absolutely no email correspondence from eBay, upon trying to log in we were prsented with a relevant notice & the procedure begun from that point. ;)

We followed everything required, changed the password, then 3 days later we received an email from eBay informing us of the hack & that our password requiring changing!? :confused:

Seems very much a case of the left hand not speaking to the right in this instance. :rolleyes:
