MP Bumblebee Official Pics
-
Sorry but I think BB's body looks atrocious. Really hope those photos are preproduction examples. Doesn't look 'clean'.
-
why can't the human figures have details on their faces? even DR Wu's partners set have details on their faces.
Anyway, still a good looking MP just a little over the pricey side but heh, better than paying after market prices for it later.
-
He looks great, except for the Autobot symbol on the hood. It doesn't work well in bot mode at all.
-
Looks good. Happy to drop the bucks on this
-
Good to see he's Grid ready, coming with his Tron disc and all :p
-
Chest is a bit bulbous, legs a tad spindly and don't like the face too much. Don't get me wrong, I like him on the whole but not as good as I was expecting

Yeah, i would've preferred a set of optional stick on symbols rather than the tampo'd one.
Even though it's a good idea for the chest, the front end of the WW doesnt lend itself to be able to have the rotating symbol.
-
I don't think it's the tampograph that's the problem. It's the raised surface forming the Autobot badge. It would've been just fine with the tampograph on a flat surface.
-
Hmmmm.. Not quite sure. He looks alright, but the backpack doesn't hide the kibble as well as I'd hoped... Having said that, I'll probably still get him!
-
wrong yellow or how the pic is taken? Looks fine but would preferred lime yellow bee.
-
Don't get me wrong, I'm still getting it. Just think its a poor effort.
-
Hoping there will be a v2 one later, or a 3rd party that's more G1 cartoon accurate,, don't really like the look of the vehicle mode on this one ... and that autobot symbol on the chest >_>

Perhaps go for Toyworld's Bii then, if you're after a Penny Racer style design. I've got one, and I'll likely be keeping it in car mode for display with MP figures.

Not sure how I feel about this MP. Definitely getting him regardless.

Oh! I missed this one!
Looks good! thanks for that tip :)
-
Am I missing something here? - What's wrong with his colour & chest's faction symbol?
I think this is the single best Bumblebee release since the G1 Original & Pretender!
-
I don't know, like said this looks like the Transformers movie colours than the cartoon version.
-
I think it's a reasonably decent effort considering what they're trying to achieve (i.e. realistic vehicle w/ cartoon-like robot mode which cheats physics/reality ). But to me... at pre-order discount price (~$50-60), this toy works out to be approx. the same price as a Voyager Class TF, and while I still think it's not quite worth that price, I do feel that it still offers superior value for money than your average Voyager these days.

Agreed. Especially considering that the chest faction symbol is flippable, which is really cool. Allows for a realistic vehicle mode (that's a superior robot in disguise since it's not driving around with a huge flaming Autobot sigil on its roof!), but still has a chest symbol in robot mode! ;)

I think the Classics Bumblebee mould has been the best so far. At $25-30 it's about half the price of a pre-ordered MP Bumble, but of course with only Deluxe level of engineering (which is about the same as a Voyager these days :p ). Time will tell if MP Bumble offers double the level of awesome as Deluxe Classicsverse Bumblebee. ;)

Don't forget dude, that Japanese price is also including a fully poseable & transformable Spike in an Exo-suit - I think that makes up the difference value-wise, compared to the other MP Car bots, perfectly.

I love the '06 Classics Bumblebee too but for me he's more of a Pseudo-G1 Bee; I know what HasTak's intentions were at the time & the limitations imposed on the overall design as a result of Volkswagon's (Western) "NO War Bots" policy of the time - But he still feels like a far enough departure from what Bumblebee looked like in the Comics & Cartoon for me not to include him in my previous 2 member list. ;):)

Could it bee the paint on the autobot symbol perhaps looks a little rough?
That's the only thing I can see.
I love this guy! NO way in hell I am going to miss out on this little fella!

I dunno man, it's got me baffled as to what people could find wrong with this little bloke ; "little" being the operative term as he is only going to come up to the other Car bots' waists/shoulders, height-wise , so that may be why certain details look less "clean" because they're actually harder to apply on smaller surfaces?... :o
All I know is that this little bugger & his tiny man-in-a-suit pal can't arrive at my door soon enough! :D

True. Whether or not this adequately justifies the price point is something I'll decide upon after I get the toy and judge for myself IRL. ;)

Don't forget that Bumblebee hasn't always been a VW Beetle -- his G2 Gobot toy transforms into a concept race car (I personally don't know what the make/model is). I think that Classicsverse Bumblebee has done a pretty good job considering that they were unable to acquire the VW licence by making him a generic looking compact, so it still evokes the spirit of a Beetle. ;) Alternity Bumblebee did the same thing by using the Suzuki Swift, which I also thought was cool (even if that toy was rather expensive at full RRP).
Also, this isn't the first time that TakaraTOMY has used the VW Beetle, remember that Disney Label TF Donald Duck transforms into a Punch Buggy too. Although it could be argued that Disney Label isn't associated w/ war. But also keep in mind that while TakaraTOMY may have acquired the VW Beetle licence, it doesn't necessarily apply for Hasbro (as appears to be the case with Lamborghini; re: Hasbro's apparent inability to release MP Lambos, and I'm assuming that AoE Lockdown will be an approximated Aventador) :o

Hasbro are releasing Sideswipe, Gok, see Fatbot's first post in the new Generations figures thread

Ooh, sweet! There may be hope for a Hasbro MP Red Alert then! :D

What's the cheapest place for this guy that isn't sold out? I missed AE. :( Should I for Robot Kingdom, or maybe buy one in Japan next year when I'm there?

you have to wait for release date and grab one from hlj or Nippon yasan.
all sold atm.
In honesty the trend is to buy when is out on pre-order. The old ways are almost non existent.

Are you going to be meeting up with anyone when you're going to Japan? If so, maybe ask them to preorder that toy (or toys) from Amazon Japan. They ship free within Japan, so you only have to pay for the cost of the pre-ordered toy. And with a direct pick-up, you won't need to pay for international shipping. :) Amazon JP still has MP Bumble for pre-order for 4889JPY (approx. AU$51), and it comes w/ the bonus face mask. :o

No, I'm going to be with a host student. I presume they have MPs at retail? Do they sell out fast?

Depends on the MP, and the retail outlet. Where I am, only Yamada Denki stocks MPs aside from the specialty stores in the city. If you're in a major city you might have some hobby shops around, if not then you'll have to try mass retail or take a trip to Tokyo/Osaka/one of the other major cities.
Either way, MP Soundwave was gone the morning he was released. Soundblaster lasted a bit longer but still vanished after a month-odd. The odd MP Smokescreen was still floating around for weeks after it was released.
I'd imagine Bumble would go pretty quickly.
-
As again, the trend is you need to obtain one prior to release or you miss out.
Those days where we can see someone review and then make a decision are gone imo.

I'll be going to Tokyo and Osaka as part of the trip. I'll try my luck. Thinking of adding to my POL.

Although horrendously ugly in alt mode, Spike in the Exosuit is a far more interesting figure to me right now
-
Can't find any more online Japanese stores having this available for order.
-
So, the Toy-accurate face (no mouth) is the exclusive item to Amazon Japan.
(that face looks odd now, but is definitely something to want if you want a homage to the toy instead of the cartoon character)
At least the Hasbro HK releases of the JP Masterpiece toys include the Amazon Japan items... plus a coin.
(so best to look for a HK version from a HK site if you want all three faces - even though the regular two is just a happy or sad face)
-
The Japanese text is referring to the toy-accurate face as a "battle mask," which I think is pretty neat and also referencing Dreamwave canon where Bumblebee did indeed have a toy-accurate battle mask (as did "Goldfire" Bumblebee in IDW, although that wasn't directly based off the G1 toy). ;)
-
$5 says they will release a lemon yellow one to sucker all of us?
-
I don't know wouldn't a more lemony yellow be more cartoon accurate :p
The warm yellow that they have doesn't really scream Bumblebee yellow to me, but that might be just the photography. We wont really know until we have it in hand, or someone takes some photos with natural light.
I think this release is the least appealing so far. But he just had to be done, because he is an important character to Optimus Prime. Like Starscream is to Megatron, but obviously not the same :)

Hasbro Asia Exclusive MP 21BS for $9000.
