The Badcube stuff does look good, I am looking forward to seeing it but I would think Sunstreaker would be on TT/s radar as they already have a licence to make Lambos so they could (possibly) make another MP without having to chase a licensing deal from a car manufacturer.

I think there are some things Omnigonix's Spinout did better than Sunsurge, but I'm not totally convinced by either design.
Spinout went up for pre-order a few months ago along with an updated prototype. No test shots or anything since.
This one looks really good. I'd be all in if I didn't think that we'll have an official one within 18 months.
But I might get it anyway :)
That looks really good but they really need to fix that rear section.
Vehicle looks amazing, and probably how i'd display it, but the legs (mainly feet) dont do it for me, and the fake chest seems a bit smallish/not quite right. I've already put my eggs in omni's basket, dunno why but i'm not a fan of badcubes releases, they're solid (lately i guess) but dunno, I dont really like their insecticons at all.
Wow Badcube seem really far in development. Nice prototype pics. Omnigonix's delay after delay and not much updates really hasn't done them any favours. I think most ppl will just switch to Badcube
While proportionally it looks better than what we've seen of Spinout the fake chest is an instant deal breaker for me.
I'm sticking with Spinout.
Just out of curiosity, why does fake chest bother ppl ( hmm that sounds odd ).
Generally it means a good looking (accurate?) bot mode and alt mode. You still get the transform the figure, and it's not parts-forming as such.
Also, don't official Takara MPs have some fake parts too?
To me the transformation engineering is more important than a source accurate bot mode and vehicle mode, and using fake parts is to me a major engineering fail, especially for something as high end as a third party Masterpiece style release.Quote:

Hmmm the fake chest doesn't bother me too much, it's that gap just below where it looks like something tucks in that's a problem. Also those huge duck feet and the open-ended rear in alt mode.
The Omnigonix version does look a bit better in most of those regards, however that large chest makes it look like he's consumed too much energon.
There are good and bad parts to both. I'll hold off final judgment until production mold is finished.

Both versions seem to have pros and cons. I have to say I'm leaning toward this version overall, but I need to see the finished colour version to be sure.
Fake chest doesn't bother me, as Wardog essentially fakes his gun turret chest but the ingenuity and implementation is awesome, so it wont feel like a cop out for me as long as the engineering is clever. So far Badcube's transformations have been complex but always rewarding, so that and the quality of their last release has me favoring this one, at least for now.
Don't like the fake chest myself - I like spin out better (if it ever releases!)
I don't understand the dislike for the fake chest. Both MP-1 and MP-10 had fake waist elements.
Both of which actively annoyed me enough that I didn't buy that figure either.Quote:

It's pieces like this that make me wish HasTak would give us a road map for knowing which Masterpiece bots they intend to make. I would buy this piece if I knew there was not going to be an MP Sunstreaker but I just have a feeling there will be one so gonna pass.
If HasTak do intent to make him, he'll be pushed back and back and back.....

The way im doing it is, i'll buy the 3rd party if it's great enough and then if Hasbro or TakTom make it i'll have one in alt form.
For example Grimlock will stay in dino mode till the set is complete by Fanstoys i'll have their Grimlock in dino mode to match the rest and official Grimlock in bot mode.

For instance while I do think there is a 50/50 chance that Hasbro may one day release Sunstreaker, my enjoyment of Badcubes previously released toys has me keen on this toy, the same is true for me with Maketoys Hound, and MMC's Mirage, previous experience of what they can create is making me want to get those toys even though I think Hasbro may release them. In which case maybe I'd get both as I feel like they each would add something.
On the other end of the spectrum is things like X-Transbots Scourge, I don't think Hasbro will ever make MP scourge, yet my experience of X-Transbots has not been amazing, I'm actually more tempted by the other guys who may get official toys.....one day.
