YESSSSSS
Oh please not a Combiner Set...im already just saving funds for Bruticus!
The tweet actually translates as Overseas is Overseas (refer to Hasbro) and Japan is Japan (Takara Tomy). Hisashi Yuki hints that Takara will do their best to keep up with Hasbro and continue their own new designs / modifications from existing Hasbro release for the UW line
Unless the limbs are all new characters it's a pass for me. Already have a Cyclonus I haven't even opened yet, don't need another
Right leg off-road
Left leg rook
Left arm air raid
Right arm ??? (Gun looks mounted on shoulder)
I'd hope they are new characters although rook and off-road are characters that takara haven't used so if they did a Set with the moulds/characters they havent used it could give a chance for people to get a takara version of those moulds
Assume the limbs will be repainted though, who would they repurpose them to be character wise ?
Goddammit Takara, just do a bunch of Sweeps already.:(
What if they do a cop out and just put Sweep heads and colours on all the extra combiner war molds, eg: Rook Sweep, Ofroad Sweep, Alpha Bravo Sweep etc?
It's more a Hasbro idea than Takara, but I could still see it happening as Cyclonus's all terrain Sweep team. :p
We have what is likely our first look at the UW Galvatronus toy, looks like a UT homage. I'm not a big UT fan so it's a turn off for me.

It is originally from this as linked by TF Yuki

Anyway another pass...just bring out Bruticus please ;)
UT = Unicron Trilogy.
The colours look really weird for each toy of Galvatronus.
At least it is a new set of characters and not just minor redecos.
Pics are on twitter and showing up at sites like Seibertron.
It is Cyclonus, (ghost) G1 Starscream, Armada Thrust, Prime Breakdown and IDW Roller combing into Galvatron.
Bit odd really.
Edit: oh crap, there's a seeker head for a CW Aerialbot. Guess which characters Funpub is going to be churning out then.
That's pretty awesome. I'm going to find this version hard to resist even though I do already have Cyclonus. And his Armada, anyone? But then what does that make my RTS Cyclonus?
I think I'd rather get this than the G2 Bruticus for sure. I guess I'll have to track down an individual Shockwave to be his gun though.
I'd been expecting it since the beginning of the year, as the original Airraid was the same jet mode as the Seekers... I'm just surprised that it took this long to have one announced.
(and yes, I dread the endless FunPub seeker redecos too, because I'd rather someone else doing them and supporting them to complete the set :( )
Talk about eclectic, bizarre but it's also rather creative, and the paintjobs look good. He is way more interesting than the G1 car Autobot combiner.
Poor old Roller conscripted by the Deceptions though.
Yup, and if you squint Thrust's head can be used for a conehead. Unimaginative repaints here we come.
Release date - April 30th
Price - 16,200yen
It's like the 2003-2005 Universe series, with characters plucked from different eras into the one series.
They got the colours spot on for Thust, as it really gives the visual feel of that toy.
War Breakdown looks like something FunPub would do for BotCon.
The colours for Cyclonus just don't look/feel right.
I actually thought the Rook redeco was Armada Hoist from the smaller images at the start of this news topic... and Roller as yet another evil reformatted and brainwashed Unicron pawn (like Nemesis Prime and the four horsemen of Armada) is unnecessary. With the unusual choices for the rest of the team, why make this an evil Roller?
One nice touch they did (in addition to the nice looking Starscream) is colouring the two parts of Cyclonus' gun orange and purple to look like Gen1 Galvatron's cannon... which Hasbro should have done with their Cyclonus/Galvatronus.
I think Cyclonus looks perfect. I could just see him with that colour scheme walking straight out of the reformatting scene into my hand.
This set is PERFECT, IMO. Breakdown, Thrust and Ghostscream also look awesome, but I'm not yet sold on 'Wandering Roller'.
Fine... you're both banned. :p
:D
Perhaps one of our Japanese speakers can confirm this, but I'm pretty sure all the names of the limbs are meant to evoke undead creatures, not just Ghost Starscream and Zombie War Breakdown (what a name!). Curse Armada Thrust presumably refers to a cursed being or cursed spirit, fitting in with the theme. Wandering Roller probably refers to a Wandering Spirit, as well as to him being lost and abandoned by the Autobots. Even Cyclonus is established to have been possessed by Galvatron's spirit. This set is spoo-oo-ky!!!
They should have released this for Halloween :D
Maybe i should start a Ghost Starscream collection as well
I love the movie accurate Cyclonus. Time to get ready to buy him.:p
Damnit! For some reason I like this guy, but i'm not sure if my bank account can take the hit... :(
What if Thrusts head and Starscreams' were old heads for remolds to make a seeker combiner/limbs.
I also like this version of Cyclonus's colours, In fact the only one I don't like so much is Ghost Starscream due to his big yellow connector peg. Obviously they could not make this transparent, but I wish they had put some kind of paint aps on it to break it up a bit.
This set is pretty tempting, but I'll be waiting until they go on sale cheap down the track
The yellow canopy peg is rather cleverly done as the chest canopy though, I'll give them that! Thrust is really nice, Wandering Roller though..... Is he dead in IDW or something?
Those vehicle modes of Scourge really showed me how badly the bot mode hangs off the bottom of the het. Also, surprised they didn't make a Zombie Cliffjumper, rather than Breakdown, as iirc, Breakdown was controlled by that guy rather than actually being a Zombie.
Just weighing in here, as someone who loves this set, I still don't think Cyclonus' colour scheme is as good as the Hasbro version. That's because the Hasbro version is such a glorious shade of purple it's difficult to imagine anything equalling it. It's the same people as my Galvatron General and that's awesome.
This is another TakTom Mall exclusive so HLJ will likely not stock it, but some of the other sites will. Apparently it will get an Asian market release, so speculation goes.
Hasbro's colours are G1 toy-accurate, whereas TakaraTOMY's are G1 cartoon-accurate. But yes, toy-accurate colours are superior ;) (although I'm personally not interested in the mould). Interestingly enough, the Galvatron(us) gestalt torso has G1 toy-accurate colours (whereas the Hasbro version went for cartoon-colours).
It's a shame that they don't sell these figures individually, cos Roller's the only one that interests me. Ah well. :p
