Alpha Trion by kelvinchang99 - conversion from Vector Prime

Hi guys,

Just finished a custom. This Alpha Trion is a personal favourite. Its a conversion from Vector Prime.

Here are the pics. Paint still drying so the transformation will be posted tomorrow.

What do you reckon.. should the piece in the chest centre be painted gold to represent the matrix?

Wow dude. That's one impressive custom. Sometimes simplicity can be really rewarding to a custom.

I'd keep the same colours but that's my opinion. Still, excellent custom. How did you mold the head?

Yeah, I'd go for a shade of gold for his chest-piece (It'd also look kinda mystical... :))

Thanatos - Agree with you. Sometimes customs dont have to over do... I like this one as it was clean and clear on what I had to do.

STL - the head mold comes from Broken Arrows. Liege and I recently ordered some stuff from there and I found this head that was perfect. It is based on the botcon one they did I presume.

Pulse - I am leaning on the gold but I might leave it for a few weeks and enjoy this as is first. and then come back to it to do the gold later. I will go with I_amTrunks lead as the purple does go well with the rest of the figure without introducing a new colour scheme. I think I will do that if I revisit this custom and actually put a chest plate in the future if I come across the right parts.

i_amtrunks and DirtyDigger - going with your suggestion trunks :) Regarding the beard, glad it was the right decision on the 2 tone. I have seen alot of custom that its the same colour. I thought the highlight is better too.

I still have the little guy to paint and thinking of how to make him a gun for this. Will update that when its finished also.

I was just a wondering... Are you gonna repaint his "solar panel" wings or leave 'em as is? :)

Ooooooooh luv the custom Kelvin!!! Excellent work. Dont tell me you painted this one brushstroke again - man that's gonna hurt my hand if it was me. I didnt see that head from brokenarrows heheheh, guess youve browsed the site a bit more than I did. Prolly coz i was more interested in looking at the accessories for the G1s:p as well.
Are you gonna repaint the minicon too so it'll match with Alpha Trion?
IMO the solar panels being red is just fine.

Thanks for the comments. I only do hand paint as you know, my workspace is tiny... :) It was fun though doing this one... Yeah, I spotted this one when I was browsing through and I just knew I had to put it on the vector prime. Yes, I am still wanting to do the minicon.. but trying to add some parts to him so that he can be held like a target master gun.. a target master Alpha Trion !!! :)

Pulse, no I am leaving the solar panels red as it matches well with the burgendy, but I am considering attaching a cape (starscream coronation set) on him and see how that looks.

Nice work on Safeguard there KC99! I love that you have managed to paint him in such a way that not much of his paint does not rub off or chip when he is transformed. it's an area I struggle with.

Colours work really well together too, especially in robot mode. I thought he might need a third colour to break it up, but the two work perfectly fine on him.

Great work Kelvin!! Really great paint job & i love the pics you have put up too, especially the ones with Alpha Trion & Optimus.

Nice one, KC99, I love the head too, makes it look so like Alpha Trion in the G1 cartoon. Now you make me wanna get my gold vector prime painted too.. :p
