Toy Review - Titans Return Windblade updated
-
Nice photos, she looks pretty awesome
-
The combined sword can plug into a slot just behind the cockpit in Windblade's vehicle mode
-
Do I need to go to a post office to vote on this poll? :p

I got this figure last night, so these are only initial thoughts:
Overall she looks quite good in both modes, but jet mode would definitely be the winner. The robot face is very evocative of the youthful vibrant representation we've had of her in the comics, and the greater emphasis on the blue collar helps provide some definition to the figure. Unfortunately in my mind, the thicker legs tends to overwhelm the slight upper body.
The transformation is a bit disappointingly simplistic - pull arms down, pull down legs & flip, flip nose cone
I quite like the idea of the two swords becoming a rail gun, and wish that they had a peg for combined weapon, rather than a tab, so that others could hold it.
The upper body and head is a better I think overall I prefer the slender Generations version, or even better - the Legends version.

I've got all the DLX Windblade molds, but I still got this one...
Vehicle mode is the best of the 3 by far. Big, feels/looks solid, has awesome lines (love backwards swept wings) and great use of colour.
Robot mode is nice, though the proportions are a bit strange-this is worsened by the huge + bulky swords + square head + limited arm articulation (no wrist swivels and wings get in the way of shoulders). That said, not too bad either, though I prefer the proportions of the RID version more.
Face is okay, but looks a bit 'dead' (neither smiling like RID or scowling like Gen), though paint is very nice.
Overall worth it for the vehicle but not my Favourite Windblade in robot mode.

The robot-mode looks better than I expected. Her torso isn't as chunky as pictures make it out to be. Just don't look at her from behind, because her backpack kibble is massive! Also, I kind of wish the Autobot symbol was bigger and placed somewhere else, it's almost indistinguishable.

Seeing Scourge's thighs on Windblade really Sweeps me off my feet. :p

a missed opportunity with this mold and the generations mold, a head swap makes them both look way better...

Opened mine yesterday and strongly prefer this version over the Generations one - might be personal preference, but I prefer this head to body ratio, and I'm okay with the legs. The back kibble is massive, but the legs can easily handle the weight unlike my Generations copy (heels kept collapsing). Overall I like how this is a much sturdier toy.

Go to Bunnings and get some putty in a tube and a chemist for some black nail polish. Add about 1mm to each heel.
She goes from unstable to dynamic. I can't understate the improvement.
As for TR Windblade. That face is so pretty and she has nailed the alt mode.
Generations wins robot mode with the litheness (Once fixed) and possibility in places like the wrists and wings.
RID is probably the most balanced of the three but her simplicity shows in places like the tubby alt mode.
Maybe if we put all three in a bag the perfect Windblade will step out?
-
I know TR Windblade is divisive, but I think she's fantastic and by far the best toy of the character yet.

Yeah I've got more than a few figs in desperate need for some minor fixes like that.
Worst QC problem in desperate need of attention would is my CW Ultra Magnus, who's hands can't grip on to his gun at all - like the old man has arthritis.

Update: Thumb on mine's right hand is cracked-tried to glue it but I think it's likely to fall off :S
Should still hold the swords but it's the first time I've had a problem with open handed figures :(

That sucks to hear :(
Have you tried Loctite 406?
It's worked very well for a 1mm joint I needed to glue together (an antenna, pics here: http://www.otca.com.au/boards/showth...t=13888&page=3).

A) The scabbard from Gen. Windblade can be attached to the hole behind the cockpit on TR Windblade but sadly there are no holes for the tabs.
B) There's a tab hole for the scabbard to be attached to TR Windblade's thigh just like Gen. Windblade.
C) Gen. Windblade's jet mode looks very lightweight. Like as if it's a prototype and a more advanced one awaits and lo and behold the TR version delivers (I love her inverted wings).
