Unused Japanese Headmaster concepts

A bit of a retro treat for the fans... some concept art of Japanese Headmaster heads from way back in the mid 80s, that included a lot of potential Headmaster head toys (we only ended up getting 6 produced, and they were released in 1987 in Japan... now commanding hundreds of dollars each on the secondary market).
I think the smaller images were printed in one of the Generations books, but the larger ones look to be new (tweeted from here).

I hope HasTak does these one day. They are all really cool concepts.

Wow the sea snake is awesome

They look awesome. Headmasters were my favourite gimmick. Would love a 3P to come along and make these given the fact there is almost no way TT would.

Like the dugong's head mode. In general, love the time and attention they've put into all these unique head/face designs.

Headrobots actually made a snake one VERY similar to the design here, a few years back

Yeah these are awesome...sure wish Takara would seriously think about taking the project "head on" and making them for the fans...:D

They did give us Sawback and Shuffler in Titans Return. To think that CHUG would give us those characters is pretty darn awesome! :D I quickly scooped both up when I found them in stores. But yes, I would certainly love to see more. :) I wonder if Sawback and Shuffler sold well enough to justify making the rest of the Headmaster Warriors. Then there are the Godmaster Warriors like Zetoca et al.

I believe that Headrobots head was designed off this unreleased headmaster. It was quite cool.

While I agree that they are awesome, not one of the faces matches a G1ish head aesthetic. They all remind me of different 1980s Japanese IPs.

Some, I'd agree. But most look to fit Transformers, especially Headmasters series. The Dugong looks like Star Sabre

I found Shuffler just before Christmas last year in a Myer after looking for ages and boy I wasn't disappointed :)

Never got Sawback sadly :(
