I can confirm that this 2pack of Animated Jetfire and Jetstorm (also includes comic) is definately out. Check your Toy Kingdoms it's in the latest "Last Minute Bargain Bonanza" catalogue. Priced at $30 for the 2pack. Now let's see if this thing is as awful as we assume it to be...
Also the previewed figures on the bottom of the box are Swindle, Blurr, Blazing Lockdown, Shockwave and Skywarp. Perhaps not too far away now.

betcha the yanks get a bit uppity, like they do everytime we get a figure first!
Not to mention we got those Special Edition Universe repaints. The alt modes on the twins are terrible the combined jet mode was obviously a severe afterthought, but the magic is in the robot modes. The combined robot mode "Safeguard" is ok. Legs are a bit too skinny but the conversion for it is excellent. Ankles for fist for the win.

Conceptually it is original, which is a good thing. Even if the first attempt isn't the best looking thing ever made, it gives the designers an idea of where to go next in order to continue being different and not the same old boring routine all the time.
Does anyone know if these guys are going to be in the actual cartoon itself?
At this stage I'm only buying the toon figures... which is why I've passed on Oil Slick!

Have also seem similar concepts with other lines from Japan as well, though sadly I can't remember anything more than that.
This set, if realeased in New Zealand (since its a new size class) is a definate pass for me.

Found the Animated 2-pack at Kmart (Jetfire, Jetstorm) for $37. They are specially tagged as Deluxe bonus pack, so are either classed the same as the leader 2-pack, or are a separate item in the system. Either way, they aren't being classed or priced as Voyager, as I had anticipated.
It should also mean they will be at most Kmarts within the week, if not already.
Saw these in New Zealand for $40. I can't day I like either mode at all, though I do want to read the comic..

The "Safeguard" name bugs me... why couldn't they have called it "Firestorm"? (or "Autobot Firestorm"?) - "Safeguard" just feels like a random attempt to preserve a trademark rather than sitting down and thinking of a cool/appropriate name for this gestalt.
Beats calling it "Tankor" though. ;)
