What would you like to see in TF3?

Keeping in mind that what has been done cannot be undone, so this thread isn't looking for conveniently undoing things from the previous movies that you may not like (at least not in a way that contradicts existing movie continuity), but rather discussing what we would like to see in the third installment.

I'll get the ball rolling with something relatively simple: I would like to see the Autobots performing heroic duties other than fighting. One of my most memorable moments from the first episode of Transformers Car Robot (RiD) was seeing Fire Convoy's first appearance as a fire engine fighting a household fire alongside human firefighters (who didn't even know their engine was also a transforming robot!). As Neil Kaplan pointed out in a DVD interview, unlike other Optimus Primes, RiD OP is always a hero - not just when he's fighting Predacons/Decepticons. Video link :)

It's not too often in Transformers that we are reminded that being a hero isn't always about beating the bad guys. As Yoda would say, "Wars not make one great," and I'd really like to see them perform other acts of heroism too. It doesn't need to be a dominant or recurring theme in the movie - it could just be a one off scene in the movie, just to show what the Autobots have been up to _other_ than hunting Decepticons. :)

More human insects getting squished, and no implied death this time... should be like as it is in a fight/war - kinda like Saving Private Ryan death scenes:D no namby pamby coffins with american flag on top after scenes to imply a lot of death.

I didnt wanna request anymore G1 characters coz I didnt wanna risk having them make a butchered version and as was told before yadayada "rape of childhood yadayada... prolly keep the current line up and just , you know more character development this time for pete's sake....whoever pete is.

I suspect that would pump it up to an R18+ rating. Not sure if Paramount/Hasbro would be cool with that.

They screwed up G2 characters way more than G1! I'm not happy with the Jolt and Mudflap names being used for Autobots. I'd like to see TF3 be more like TF1 and try to keep characters true to their original counterparts even to a basic degree. I don't mind the movie characters being a complete departure from their original counterparts, but seeing Autobots running around with Decepticon names is a bit much for me.

There is a _rich_ pool of names from G1 and G2 that writers can draw from - I don't see any need for them to reassign Decepticon names as Autobots (or vice versa). I liked how TF1 used some really obscure characters/names from G1 like Barricade and Blackout. I'd personally like to see this happening again in TF3 over just haphazardly plucking TF names and randomly slapping them onto movie characters.

And perhaps some insight into Barricades David Copperfield like disappearing act!

Not that I want this personally, but I would be surprised if Unicron wasn't in TF3. It would be nice to see some other seekers too, or even better a whole army of seekers under Starscream's command. That would be coolies. As would more Sideswipe, Ironhide, Jolt and Ratchet... and less twins.

Some more of the Spielberg touch.

No Stunticons... don't want to see them get butchered Bay style.

A new director.
Someone to keep an eye on the continuity of the film.

Honestly, I'd like to see a natural progression of some of the concepts introduced in the previous films.

For example, we've seen a TF hump someone.
We've seen a TF scrotum.

I wouldn't mind seeing Starscream backstab Megatron.

What I would really like to see is a storyline which ties the Mayan calendar in with Unicron. Think about this: maybe he enslaved the humans and ruled them like a God (why? Who cares?) and before he left for some as-yet unknown reason, he drew up their calendar. So on December 21st, 2012, Unicron appears in the sky, mouth open, ready to eat the Earth.

But before he can, Sam, Mikaela, Optimus and a few other Autobots, who have spent the previous two hours on a universe-wide easter egg hunt (hidden space bridges FTW!), appear in a giant spaceship. The ship transforms into Omega Supreme, who engages in an epic fight with Unicron to save the Earth. Preferably, he drags Unicron off to another solar system (which has already been established as devoid of life) and they throw planets and asteroids at each other. If you're going to end the series as a trilogy, I think nothing less would suffice. :p

Also, maybe Unicron was awakened by Starscream in a plot to destroy Megatron, but it backfires and becomes a real 'what have I done' moment. Then again, I'd shy away from anything that brings back memories of X-Men 3... :(

Also, can we get someone other than Linkin Park to do the song?

EDIT: Just realised, the thought of movie-line toys of Unicron and OS scares me. They'd probably be conversion level 5 or something. :p

ROTF's greatest legacy!

Serious wants: more appliance bots, and a deluxe Dispensor toy. Sunstreaker. Lots of explicit human deaths and more Autobot brutality. Even more explosions. Orange Wheelie repaint. Ice-cream twins toy repaint with Decepticon evil clown motif.
Could-be-cool wants: Headmasters. Ultra Magnus replete with transforming trailer armor. Maybe a GI Joe crossover. Boatformers (ones that actually show up onscreen).
Why-the-heck-not? wants: More dick/fart/toilet humor and racist stereotypes, MORE I SAY! Sam's mother becomes a crack junkie and/or drug dealer. Optimus Prime to die (again), maybe twice in the same film this time - that hasn't been done yet right? Autobots appearing in public safety announcements 'cos knowing is half the battle. At least 2 TFs with robot-modes inspired by MC Escher.
On-set fistfights between Megan Fox and Michael Bay, or at least more publicity statements like last time. Shia LaBouef to get so depressed by how Megan Fox thinks of him as 'like a brother' that he kills himself.

Also, I'd like to see the Autobots become more like the Autobots in other fictions, i.e. 'freedom is the right of all sentient beings', and I'd ESPECIALLY like to see Prime not do any 'GIVE ME YOUR FACE' crap. In the first film, he seemed rather benevolent, e.g. he regretted killing Megatron. In RotF, well, he became something of a psychopath.

A Movie Unicron toy would probably have a conversion level of over 9000 or something.

Will there be budget/financial difficulties and increasing robot action screen time? maybe... but i'll be nice if the movie was heavily weighted towards Robots.

very simple...a plot, lots of sideswipe, and a lot of megan fox...

I'd like to see:

-the fleshing out of individual Transformers pasts using flashbacks to Cybertron

-Barricade is reintroduced in spectacular fashion by having him transform into robot mode while a human passenger (a policeman, innocently eating a donut and making a silly Baytastic joke) sits in the drivers seat. He does this infront of an Autobot (camera positioned to show barricade's lower torso in foreground with blood pouring onto the ground - Autobot can be seen between the gap in the background looking on in terror) who he then easily disposes of due to them being in shock.

-gun for hire, Doubledealer, ;) has been hired by the Decepticons to take out human members of NEST - Optimus responds by calling for Nightbeat to come to earth to investigate/cautiously go after the (as yet unknown to the Autobots) villain whilst the rest of the Autobots focus on the remaining Decepticons

-a morally bankrupt bounty hunter in the vein of Lockdown who steals other Transformers parts (he's first seen repairing/upgrading Megatron's war wounds)

-Sam Witwicky in a coma the entire film (this doesn't need to be explained in great detail - maybe BB could rage upgrade to Goldbug at the same time)

We can only hope. In Bay's world, nothing needs explaining. If it gets too complicated, you add another explosion. Problem solved.

Just read the comments here and was struck by the best idea for TF3 yet. We know that Michael Bay is good at explosions and action but not so strong on plot, so let's play to his strengths...
Clearly the whole thing should be a plotless montage of Transformer battles, explosions, and Megan Fox slow-motion running Baywatch style, set to the 1812 overture.

I know Demonac would be up for that idea, Odie.

...Getting Roland Emmerich to Direct it? .... Cos then, for sure Unicron Would show up and.. (surprise) Pretty much destroy the earth (almost but not quite except for a few survivors) cumilating in an *epic* battle vs Unicron/Decepticons/impossible odds etc. in the end (where said small group of unlikely survivors manages to defeat/overcome end of world type problem...) usually with the main hero of the story sacrificing (or at least making you think they have) themselves to do so (take your pick of Optimus or Sam here... or both... who knows.)

Oh yeah and you would also get a bonus hour of unessisary characterisation.. so for those of you who want "more indepth look at characters" that would really work... Huge scenes of Destruction... (without the *explosion* ... huh.. was that a plot hol.. *explosion* .. but what happen.. *explosion* .. oh forget it...)

On top of all that....maybe.... just *MAYBE* one could ask for some more G1 Characters... (Like others have said... I really want to see the Stunticons... but.. Id cry if they where butchered... I could see what would happen with current psycopathic Optimus and it bodes about as well for Motormaster and the others as it did for Grindor... ) Here endith my 2c. :D

I totally ignored that rendition of godzilla... i dont think ive ever actually watched more than 5 minutes of it. Cant possibly imagine why.

Though I was being mildly sarcastic given the guys track record for the same kinds of movies.

Id say the fanchise has been sufficently raped already when we're affraid to ask for our favorite characters for fear of what will happen to them T_T

The first movie was at least tolerable - if you took it as a popcorn flick and not too seriously, but at least it made some attempt (however limply) at having a story at its core. My partner at the time who is quite derisive of most blockbuster films could even find things to like about it.
The "rape" happened with the second one - as I have stated elsewhere it seems Bay felt that he allowed too much story and too much dialogue in the first and took every opportunity to make it more focused on tits and explosions. He also wanted to express his an unquestioning love and support of the US Military. There was potential but he wanted to shove it down people's throats. IT actually dismays me that the film was a blockbuster - if that makes me "elitist" so be it.
I don't think there's anything short of handing the franchise toa different director and scriptwriters that could make a third movie redeem ROTF.

How about rebooting the series.

As popular as ROTF was, will the TF movies end up like the Batman series did with Batman & Robin ?

Mercifully, Batman was rescued with a reboot. That was a big risk, but it did pay off. If TF3 doesn't perform, rebooting Transformers may be a bridge too far for most movie execs that write big cheques.
