Well, hopefully it wont affect Marvel that much ( who am I kidding) coz if Disney influences much of Marvel, then all those adult dark theme that marvel universe has will be down the drain and be more "kiddy" friendly. ugh. Goes to show DC still is better:p at least they didnt get bought out... yet.
o0o0o0o Mickey mouse in a wolverine costume
AH Warner Bros. bought out DC a very long time ago!!!
Disney owning the properties doesn't mean they will be "Disney" movies. That's why they made Touchstone. The adult market was a big area that Disney was missing out on, so they created Touchstone in order to release adult aimed movies without tainting Disney's kid friendliness.
But all of that is pointless because different studios already have the film rights for the characters. If they do go ahead with any movies Disney has been fairly hands off in recent years. They'll spend the money and take the money but they won't have too much of a say in how that money is spent. IE: Jerry Bruckheimer's recent oeuvre.
Well thank god for that.
Yeah as Gantz says, I would think that Disney from their dealings with Pixar and Jerry Bruckheimer's Pirates series, are happy to let Marvel do their own thing as long as they keep bringing in the cash. There pretty much just a big company like any other these days, family friendly movies are one of their aspects.
If anything Marvel will have even more money and resources to promote its self.
I have also been told that Disney have huge shares in ViVid Entertainment, which is very large pornography company! if so, I dont believe they'll want to change what Marvel is!
Heh, bring on Marvel Hero rides at Disney theme parks! :D
Does this means that some former Transformer characters owned by Marvel like Circuit Breaker are now property of Disney. :/
What happened when WB bought DC:

Guess Disney did not like all those Marvel movies cutting into their own movie sales.
And since Disney is too lazy to try and do anything clever with their competition, they fell to their only backup plan...buy them out.
The reason they bought Marvel is because they know the appeal Marvels characters have, They paid an absolute fortune for Marvel considering it's current worth. I doubt they would have paid as much as they did if they didn't believe in what Marvel were doing, And I doubt very much they'll want to mess around with them much, beyond the inevitable Mickey Mouse as Spiderman etc etc spin of comics.
Sure wholesome as long as you forget that they were founded by a racist who was the dark prince of holywood. And Mickey Mouse was a complete jerk back in the old days, pulling cat's tails and generally making a nuisance of himself.
Yup, just like Disney buying out Pixar when their animated movies could not match up to Pixars in terms of appeal and money making.
Actually, the Pixar purchase (which was through Disney shares), made Steve Jobs to largest shareholder of Disney. Clearly the man is onto something... e-comics downloadable onto iPhones maybe?
I only hope that the family-friendly policy of Disney does not negative impact the Marvel characters - mature themes can be used tell interesting, powerful, and meaningful stories. "Family-friendly" isn't always "best".
I wonder if Disney will allow Hasbro to keep the licence for making Marvel toys or if Disney will instead choose to make Marvel toys themselves. I haven't been a huge fan of Hasbro's Marvel toys so I wouldn't really care if they kept or lost their licence.
I hope Disney does a Death's Head toy!

Yeah I know, dreaming..
I didn't think Disney had a toy division, they license there stuff out to other companies.
I would miss the GI Joe scale Marvel figures if Hasbro lost the Marvel license, having action figures from multiple universes the same scale rocks, not a fan of the TF x-over ones though.
I think whatever minute slim chance there is Hasbro would make a Death Head figure, would be reducted by half again from Disney, as there's always the minute chance that Hasbro may one day realise Deaths Head was in Transformers there top boys brand atm.
I think ToyBiz should lose the Marvel licence if anything....
(99% terrible figures with a few gems)
Insane Clown posse wont be happy
Hitler's response to Disney buying Marvel:
Linky
They removed the Hitler hates Michael Bay's Transformers video. That was the best one!
It really scares me that the comic books i grew up reading are now being made by a company whose founder was a nazi sympathizer and is currently frozen, awaiting reanimation.
Will they have a negative effect on the characters i grew up reading, have tattoos of, and taught me more about life then my father?
No marvel won't change that much, disney has spent way too much money to do anything that would adversely affect the company they have just bought. I hope
But now i have to stop and think, Do i want to give more money to the mouse every month?
I think Disney will leave Marvel to do its own thing. If it ain't broke, don't screw with it. They probably bought Marvel because they recognised the pull power of its properties.
This could have some positive effects. Since Marvel have set up their own company for making films based on their properties, it could mean that there would be less chance of a risk, since Disney could aid in distribution, marketing, etc.
Meh, that's not much worse than the fact that the alt modes for G1 Jazz, Cliffjumper and Bumblebee (plus others) were based on vehicles manufactured by Porsche/Volkswagen, and we all know about their relationship with the Führer. ;)Quote:

Ut-oh, spaghetti-os! Animated Blitzwing forgot about Optimus Prime's heritage! :D
That's an urban myth according to wikipedia (and as Revenge of the Fallen has taught us, "the internet is pure truth." ;))Quote:

I always found it ironic that the car everybody adores as cute and friendly, The Volkzwagen Beetle, is something that was pretty much made by Hitler:
Quote:
In 1933, Adolf Hitler gave the order to Ferdinand Porsche to develop a "Volks-Wagen" . The name means "people's car" in German, in which it is pronounced [ˈfolksvɑːgən]). He required a basic vehicle capable of transporting two adults and three children at 100 km/h (62 mph). The "People's Car" would be available to citizens of the Third Reich through a savings scheme at 990 Reichsmark, about the price of a small motorcycle (an average income being around 32RM a week).

I don't think Disney will make any drastic changes to Marvel although they make the kid friendly 'Marvel Age' line more appealing
They will make them wear purity rings.
An interesting article on what 'could' happen to Marvel in the next 5 years.
