I saw the film yesterday. Now I really want the toys, the alien creatures in particular (because the leonopteryx and the banshee are awesome).
Have these been released here yet?

I saw some Avatar figs at Big W Macquarie yesterday. Didnt get 2 look at them 2 closely though. Only saw the human figures.
I am rather tempted by the beasts. Yet to see them.
I already started an Avatar figs thread in July. Nobody was interested so I was the only poster :o Oh how times have changed! :D Mods - please merge?
I haven't seen them yet either - but I'll be getting a few! That AMP Suit looks awesome!!

that looks awesome.
I've been looking at some of those Avatar toys, the 4 inch human figures look a bit sub par, but that mecha is pretty nice, If there cheap maybe I'll get one and have my Cobra's can use it to take on Transfromers one on one.:)
The coolest part though seems to be the Itag they all come with, pretty niffty, course you need a webcam.

the missus is a great fan :D
I want to get all of the smaller figs cause they're in scale with the movie masters :D great stuff!
Just seen the Movie two days ago. that AMP is really cool.
Buuuut, it's still no cooler than APU in Matrix IMO. I mean, the design, not only the toys.

Kup got me the smaller size Colonel Quaritch for Xmas (my favourte Avatar character/caricature), unfortunately we couldn't find a working webcam to test the Itag. :( The Itag is itself just a piece of plastic, it must be all in the software.
As for the Colonel figure himself, he's not too bad. Samller than a modern GI Joe, with a little less articulation. He does have ankle joints though, giving him 2 more points of articulation than the 80's Joes. Sculpt is ok, but his singlet is just painted on and looks a bit cheap, he also has common action figure QC paint issues. Accsesories are limited as he come only with a pistol.
He's ok but he has a bit of a movie cash in feel to him, I couldn't really reccomend, as there are better figures out there. Hopefully the larger figures are better for those who really want Avatar toys.
frenzy rumble has allready re painted the Avatar AMP suit

Have there been any new sightings yet? I've been looking around and I still haven't found any.
I saw some in Big W the other day...and I couldn't believe the price...
I nearly fell over and squashed some kid who was looking at the
Astro Boy toys.
:p
I disagree. If I had to go head to head with Na'vi warriors I'd rather be riding in an AMP for two main reasons:Quote:

Ok not really a toy but a paper model of the wicked looking scorpion.
Mecha?... I wish! No, I'm talking about the price of the small 'G.I. Joe sized' character figures... they're the ones that are $15. The Avatar Movie Masters are about $30 (which is $10 more expensive then the Dark Knight ones were!)
The Mecha (afaik) hasn't been released in Australia, but I would assume (based on the prices so far) they would be at least $50 or more if they ever get here.
Awesome! I love the designs of the vehicles in this movie! That looks wicked!
$15 is alright for a 10cm action figure. Star Trek's 10cm figures initially sold for that price and Star Wars typically go for $17 a pop. $15 isn't cheap, but it's acceptable IMO.
Yes but 10cm figures are already exspensive for what they are.
Also the quality of one off movie tie-in figures tends to be even lower than the established action figure lines like Star Wars, GI Joe, and Marvel.
I have an Avatar 10cm figure, and there's definitely more than $2 worth of difference between him and one of my GI Joe figures.
I get the feeling that we're never going to get anything other than the single humans/humanoids. By now the film is winding down; if the big mechs and creatures were ever going to be released here, they would have been by now. Which is a shame, because I really did want a banshee.Quote:

The line itself seems to be shelfwarming at any rate, at least at the Big W I frequent. I am baffled by how it seems to be exclusive to Big W stores-considering how they only occur in out-of-the-way places (at least to me, being in the Inner West) it's a weird place to stuff the toy line for a game-changing blockbuster.
Outside of the enduring brands of Transformers, Star Wars, and Turtles It doesn't seem like any of the movie tie in brands do anything but shelf war anymore. Terminator, Pirates of the Caribbean, Star trek, Gi joe ROC, and now presumably Avatar all shelf warmed for ages before being sold of for a pittance. I guess they must make money cause they keep making them, but I gotta wonder.
Some interesting news, if anyone's still interested.
While hunting for Bludgeon today in Big W Macquarie Centre, I showed up right when they were putting new stock on the shelves. I hung around for a bit in case they unpacked a case of Bludgeons, which they didn't. What did show up were some new Avatar figures I'd never seen before, all of them representing the Na'vi or the humans in their avatar bodies, instead of just more human characters.
I'm curious as to whether this means that we'll eventually see the big vehicles and creatures.
hey, does anyone know if the AMP suits are on sale in australia yet? if so then how much and where?
i saw one on ebay for about 40 AUD shipped but wasnt sure if that was a good deal or i should hunt around local stores instead.
i was playing around with the i-tag system last night. not bad indeed.
Sadly, no idea. :(
The only Amp Suit I'm getting (which hasn't arrived yet) is this one from SDCC.
