What Should be turned into a movie?

Well Eddie Lebron's (Fan made) Megaman Live Action Movie came out the other day and it's got me thinking "what other Games/Books/Comics/Manga/Tv Shows/ETC should get movie Adaptations?" we've already seen transformers be made into a movie series (with opinions on the results varying from person to person) and there are plenty of other movies based on things so I'm wondering what people think should be addapted into a movie

I think the anime/manga Fullmetal Alchemist or the book series Animorphs would make decent movies (or Series of Movies)

Uncharted. But its already being made into a movie! So I'll say... DINO RIDERS!

The list is quite long for me. But the first three in no particular order would be Thundercats, Silverhawks and M.A.S.K. A New and hopefully better He - Man Movie would be good shit as well.

Of course there is also Voltron to be considered as well.

Matthew Reilly's Scarecrow series or Jack West Jr series. To be directed by Michael Bay.

I don't even want to imagine that many explosions, it makes my head hurt.

You do realise they are working on a new He-Man movie? At least I think they are...

If I wanted something turned into a movie, I would have to vote for the Legacy Of Kain series, all the games were great.

The Visionaries would be good as well. :)

I'm skeptical of game-movie adaptations as the majority of them tend to suck. Although I didn't mind Resident Evil and Prince of Persia looks to be okay judging from the trailer - but these are exceptional.

I will take my hat off to anyone who can make a good movie based on the popular game of scissors-paper-rock! :D

Akira is in the works as well, I just hope they do a good job of it. Apparently they were to be turning the 6 volumes into 3 movies, but I haven't heard much more about that.

There was also talk of a Ghost In the Shell movie too, I heard they were going to focus on the "action" rather than the philosophical questions about human and machines though. In my mind this would fit under things that should NOT be turned into a movie rather than vice versa. I'm sketpical of Hollywood turning any Manga which has some complexity to it into a movie.

I'ts about time James Cameron got started on the Battle Angel Alita movie, he keeps wearing that Gumn t-shirt afterall. if anyone can get it right surely Cameron can.

Thundercats would make a kick ass movie if they concentrate on the setting, concept and characters instead of the actual episode to episode stories which were rather poor.

However Hollywood's 'need' to change things (often for the worse) makes me skeptical than any such adaptation of an 80s cartoon would fare well.

The reason they suck is because of what I stated above which also applies to game movies. They end up changing so much of the source material in the adaptation that what you end up with only has a passing resemblance of what was originally and often feels like a nameslap. Much of what made the game appealing is lost during the 'Hollywoodtized' conversion. In recent times we have seen another form of Game to movie conversion in which the setting and costumes are spot on but the story and characters are radically changed to something different and lesser than the source - I fear this is the fate of Prince of Persia.

I believe that it's possible to make a good game-Movie adaptation since several video games have gotten some kick ass stories and characters - Many much better than anything Hollywood has given us.

The problem is that for it to work, you need someone who cares about the source material and won't just put it aside so he can introduce his own stuff.

I was going to say Uncharted before it was mentioned that it is being turned into a movie. I had no idea.

I just hope that they don't turn it into some cheap Indiana Jones rip-off and stick to the original storyline of the game.

There is/was (hopefully was) a live-action Ghost in the Shell Spielberg was looking at - after the mockery that was Aeon Flux I just want them to leave it anime. Ninja Scroll and Battle Angel Alita would be alright, maybe even cool, but if it's at all philosophical please just leave it alone Hollywood, there's enough fluff for you to adapt already.:(

Also, I dare Michael Bay to make a live-action Uroksukidoji.:p :eek:

Theres talk of doing a live action Bleach movie, Im a huge Bleach fan so I can't wait to see what Warner Brothers dos..I would say Transformers but my boy hood dreams have already been done..:p:p

Bay would be nearly perfect for those films, they are mostly big action pieces with very little character development. The only negative I can think of is that the US Military is not always on the side of good in those books. :D

Zoids Chaotic Century would make a good CG movie or three.
I'd be somewhat interested in a live action Vampire Hunter D movie.

IMO the best live action film adaptation of a manga/anime was Casshern. SBS recently played this film. :)

I think what should be turned into a "Live Action Movie" is MASK ...

cant think of anything else, i would be interested in seeing "if" they did make it into a movie (live action or not).

I agree, just look at the film adaptions of House of the Dead and Alone in the Dark which were directed by Uwe Boll.

But Uwe Boll has his dogs doing DVD commentary, that makes up for it. Postal was alright, in a bad movie way...

Im that desperate for a live action "Zoids" movie id even settle for a monotone "Boy and His Liger" story.... AND even have Bay direct it...

Well If Ultramarines hadn't already been announced I'd have listed Warhammer 40k as something that should be turned into a movie, hopefully it will be better than fellow Roleplay/Wargame to movies Dungeons and Dragons and Mutant Chronicles, not that that would be to hard.

Hence why I'm sceptical of this, and all anime to holywood movie transfers, except maybe Alita, cause Cameron is dedicated and seems to know the property, and the first 2 volumes which the film will focus on weren't all that complex.

To be honest I could go for a Zoids New Century Zero movie (that was the Gladiator compat style one right?)

God that was an awesome show.

I could never get into it New Century, to Pokemon like for me. I'd rather Chaotic Century which actually draws on some of the original Zoids backstory.

Being 12 at the time may have helped my perception of it.

If it followed the script then I would say Final Fantasy 7.

Or an emotional uplifting movie-ised "based on a true story" retelling of the Wests Tigers winning the NRL premiership in 2005 at 150-1 odds

Also there is the riftwar saga by Fiest or for the more religious the jon shannow trilogy by Gemmal, or the Drenai saga by Gemmal.

How about the Sword of Shannara series by Brooks?

Ulysses 31 would make a cool movie,if done right. They would have to play the theme at the end too.:D

Mysterious Cities of Gold, i'd be more edgy about as the plot was more involved.

I believe that there are rights for production to, or I at least I want a movie to be made from this comic - Button Man by John Wagner (Judge Dredd comics, A History of Violence starring Viggo Mortensen) and drawn by Arthur Ranson (my favorite comic artist).
