This version of Unicron is exclusive to Japan Toy Hobby Market.
I'll bite.
Confirmed to be a redeco to closer resemble the movie's colours, plus a new head.
Expected to be released in September.

I'd say the hand will remain that way, but it sux if it is indeed an exclusive. I really hate exclusives because you have to fork out a bucket load of money just to own one, and if you miss out on the release, then you would have to pay even more to scalpers.
I am hoping that Hasbro decide to release one as well, becasue this is one figure I want to own because it looks more G1 then the Armada version. never bothered to buy an Armada version for that fact, though I do own one with missing parts.

I like the clear hand. I know it is not movie accurate but it does make him look more powerful or have powers that are greater than you average tf character.

It looks very nice, but since it appears major online retailers like HLJ can't get them in, I suspect it's like the Henkei Seekers, and thus will cost a BUNDLE.
Way too much for a mold I already own. I hope they fixed the "chaos bringer" chest missile launcher.
10,500 JPY for an exclusive of that size isnt too bad.
But this is still a definite pass for me, seeing as this one is just another repaint with a slightly modded head.
now if they made him transform into a full sphere... well then, thats a completely different story. i'll be all over that version. :D
If HLJ can't get them in, then it's possible this item is not available at wholesale to retailers (other than which ever ones this toy is exclusive to). You guys look like you could pay paying well over $200 if you need to rely on a middle man to get them for you, with shipping.
Robot Kingdom seem to think they'll have him just fine ... whether they're getting it through Toy Hobby or HK (like those MP01B's that were supposdly E-Hobby only). And their price is (rates not factored) lower than Toy Hobby.

Well HLJ typically only has access to JP releases i think? Perhaps the Unicron RK has listed is a HK specific release (explains why the listing appeared before Toy Hobby) and will end up marginally different to the Toy Hobby release (again, similar to MP01B with the comic/nameplate variations).
I don't think the price is that bad really, Henkei Thrust/Dirge were marked up somewhat from regular JP deluxe pricing, and Unicron is a bit marked up from the Armada pricing (8379Y)

My opinion is that this is an exclusive release in Japan from TT, but general release in HK from Hasbro HK (who regularly have access to TT stock). I don't think it's abnormal for a toy to be exclusive in one region and not in another.

Colouring the chest area to gen1 colours makes a big difference. Hope this is easy to find when released.
Looks great, but RK wants $130-odd usd (shipped) up front now for the pre-order. I want it, but I'm still not too sure.
Probably better to grab it at that price, rather than waiting till Ebay sellers get their hands on it and you wind up paying $200+.Quote:

Hmmm... this is too tempting. Might wait until the Aussie $ rebounds a bit before making a pre-order. We have until September before it's released so there's still over 3 months of waiting.

Pretty awesome repaint/retool. Though it's still a so-so Armada mold, which is the best Unicron mold partly by virtue of being the only Unicron mold, at least the only one that turns into a planet.
So how pricey is this guy supposed to be?
