Snaketales' Stunticons

Dead End was made from a ROTF Swerve with a modified classics Grimlock head, with a Reprolabels upgrade set.

This was a custom of necessity after Swerve's head flew off during transformation, never to be seen again....:confused::mad:

Some of you may have seen the digibash of this custom earlier.

As you can see I've been fiddling around with his robot mode. I don't like the traditional method of having what I consider a huge backpack. I quite like the first image, with the doors spread out like wings, but it takes up way too much space. I think I will go with the second image, with the doors flat against his back.

And don't mind Lightning McQueen :D

Very nicely done. I too like the first display, but with how much room that will take up, I don't blame ya for going with the second one. Looks really nice though.

Ahhh the perils of not colour-mapping before starting work...

His arms have about three coats of paint on them. It took me that long to find a combination I liked. :rolleyes:

The inside of his legs have been painted so as to provide alternate configurations. I must remember to take pics....

Also his back has been painted, so the roof of the car can be popped off and the robot mode will still look serviceable.

I was going to put a rub symbol on but Reprolabels forgot to send them.... so just imagine there's one in the white square on the dashboard beneath his head.

I was this close to trying to use a Sunstreaker as the base, but luckily Red Alert became mass-available. Scraping the red off him was easier than trying to paint over Sunstreaker. I still used Sunstreaker's head with the wing ear things removed (that's right.... if you look at Breakdown from the side you can see through his ears! :D)

I don't really like any of these - the alternate leg configuration makes his legs look spindly, and the alternate chest config isn't colourful enough (and where will I put the roof piece?)... but at least they're there if I change my mind.

Who are you using for Wildrider and Motormaster?

Wildrider has me stuck at the moment. I've seen a lot of people use the Rodimus mold but I don't have any spares lying around nor do I want to spend the amount of cash that seems to be needed. I am thinking of using the movie Dead End or Sideways.. but I'd want to replace the head. And I'm not a fan of the robot mold (chicken legs, anyone?)

As for Motormaster, at the moment I'm going to use Nemesis Prime. His alt mode is good but I'd want to replace the head. I have seen some interesting things done with the Inferno mold, so to break away from the Prime truck look I may investigate that. Anyone got a spare classics Inferno?

No prizes for guessing what I'm going to use for Drag Strip. :p

i recently bought a henkei inferno to replace the classics one so i guess its a spare now.

Finally got hold of an Inferno (well, actually a Grappel) for Motormaster.
I'm not the first to do this custom. I want to get rid of the grey side panels but my hammer and nail trick of tapping the rods out didnt work so I'm stuck with them for now (but they're growing on me...)
When I was planning this custom I was worried the clear windows made him look insubstantial so I made a chestplate for it from a junker g1 Topspin that clips on to Grappel's back. However, painting the windows has filled it out a bit so I'm not sure if I'll keep it. Depends how my next project using this mold goes.
That plus taking the arms off for truck mode makes it a bit of a parts former, alas.

Hand-painted with Colours by Boyd enamel 'purple pearl'.

Actually I'm really pleased with how that turned out. It's not a 'solid' colour so you can still make out vague shapes behind the windscreen

wow they all look great!! Dead End looks surprisingly like a classic toy with that head.

Ive been thinking about doing the same thing with what you did for Motormaster and i must say that chestplate really works for him and i love his bulk compared to prime.

Might i suggest for Wildrider that you could use the Tracks/Wheeljack mould it still looks tough, is taller and had better articulation than the Rodimus mould

Awesome job on Motormaster & Breakdown. Not a fan of Dead End but that is only because of his legs & kibble you have done a bang up job on the paint apps.

Just had a look at my SS Grappel & I think you can file down a bulge under teh feet part that may let you lay them flat like how the Prime rear end is?

May be worth looking at as he looks awesome.

Those are some really great customs Snakey, there really needs to be some more Motormaster love and this attests! :eek::cool:

Motormaster finished.... now with trailer!
I cut away about the front third of the trailer floor and prised off the blue things that were on the inside walls. Now the trailer can fit over the cab rear. Unfortunately in the process I snapped off the trailer door hinges. At the moment I've got thick black double-sided tape holding the door on. For display purposes I think it's fine.
I also managed to get the grey side panels off Motormaster and painted the top half of the supports on the cab silver to look like smoke stacks.
The trailer is used to store Motormaster's arms when in vehicle mode and his chestplate. Drag Strip won't fit in but Bumblebee and Prowl will. I haven't tried any other Stunticons yet.
One of my sons asked where the trailer goes when Motormaster transforms. I said the same place that Optimus' trailer goes. :p

Repainted from a BiS Rodimus, with the spoiler fins cut off. I also removed the trunk thing, leaving a hole which can be used to emulate his G1 weaponised mode (I used a spare Nightstick in the example below).

Good eye! In car mode, it is. The base model was a Red Alert with all his red trimming etc removed (by hand! this was before I discovered isopropyl).

In bot mode, his arms, legs and dashboard have been painted in off-white.

These are fantastic! Is there a combined mode coming?

i really like the colour combo on Wildrider but may i suggest some paint apps for his legs they just look like they need a little detail to fit in with the rest

basically pick a body (the above uses primus i think) and build the connecting limbs and then attach the stunticons to them.
