What is your acquisition of the year? :D
I don't think you should be "internally struggling" on your own acquisition of the year, HD - after a quarter of a century you finally have the carded Ravage and Rumble you've always wanted.
Mine (unless I get my even holier holy grail in the post today) was White Lio Junior:

either Fort Max or my Japanese Menasor Giftset
My best is a tie between my mib g1 optimus prime and mib japanese stepper both are mint and stunning.
Wow, now that it's December 31st - looking back over the year and the sheer volume of figures I've acquired, this is actually a really hard question. :o
It's so hard I can't really decide on which one definitively, so I'll put down my top 5, ranked 1 to 5, if that's ok?
1. G1 Original Omega Supreme - He's complete, unbroken, still works and is a favourite because he was my 25th Birthday present from my parents, he's so iconic and this figure is as old as I am. :p
2. G1 Scorponok - My first Headmaster and bought from a best mate ;) - his scale is just huge and as a Decepticon and a base, he is just so full of awesomesauce he easily makes this list. :D
3. G1 Micromaster Anti-Aircraft Base - This set has a lot of sentimental value to me as this set was a re-acquisition of the first Transformers I ever received in my life, courtesy of my late Grandfather, bringing back a lot of memories. :)
4. 2010 Reissue Predaking - The best way I can describe the feeling of what it was like to receive the Predacons and open them up is that it made me feel like I was a kid again, a feeling that hasn't surfaced since acquiring G1 Megatron a couple of years ago - This Gestalt, apart from being brand new and complete, is just 'wildly' cool in so many ways.:p
5. Masterpiece MP-05 Megatron - Aside from MP-04 Optimus and the Upcoming MP-09 Rodimus, nothing says 'Quintessential Example of Transforming Toy Perfection' as this figure - I had always wanted one after hearing about him and especially after seeing 1AZRAEL1's example, though I never thought I'd ever find one or afford one, you know you are a collector that has achieved something special when you manage to acquire this beauty. ;)
Just had a look through all the pictures of the things I have received this year, and it was a bit of a disapointing year really -- only 1 vintage piece in all the horrible amounts of spending I did (from September onwards)
My acquistion of the year is the Sealed Japanese G2 Megatron Tank (the hero version)
Everything else is nice and wanted .. but sorta meh when you go back and look at what you got.
Do I need to make 2011 the year of more vintage?
Since I can't afford any old grail type figures that I'm after atm I will have to say Animated Rodimus Minor... I love him.
My favourites for the year include my 2 recoloured Ultra Magnuses and the vintage bots thanks to Herioc Decepticon :D;).
oooh... its too tough to choose just one. too many acquisitions to choose from.
My top 3 perhaps?
1) Grand Maximus
2) Blue Bacchus
3) Black Shadow
damn.. its really strange looking back on what i have bought over the last year. It reminded me of all the ups and downs.
i remember having to sell stuff off to pay for Grand max and other TFs that i went crazy on that month.
Grand max is awesome, but then at one stage, i was even thinking about selling him as well just to cover for life's unexpected expenses that sorta hits you all at once! Theres always at least one of those sh*tty periods in a year. :(
Thankfully i managed to push past the bad and still keep him, but fark... i cant believe that i went through one year already!
oh well....Bring on TF 2011! :D
Fansproject Explorer & Munitioner by a country mile!
Henkei/Classics Prime Figure - never thought I would get my hands on one!
Wow...ummm so many good toys came out this year. I don't think I can choose....I'll go have think on this....
My acquisition of the year would have to be the figure that started me into all this tf collecting madness- and that would be encore metroplex.
It's not the best figure/expensive or prized, but it still amazes me when I look at him how if I didn't pick him up from that toy shop in HK I would probably not have started collecting.
It's pretty easy for me to pick my three favourites of the year -
2010 Reissue Predaking
2010 Reissue Unicron
MP Grimlock (local TRU release)
I'd also consider the mint G1 Megatron box to be somewhere in my top 5.
actually my acquisition of the year would have to be Amazing Spiderman #1 nuff said' (you didnt say TF acquisition of the year ;) )
I'm tending to think that you are right, sir. Especially after writing the Ravage and Rumble entry for my blog today...
Totally agree. Omega is one iconic figure and a real fun toy to play with.
:D
What can I say. I'm jealous of acquisition 2 and 3! :p
Congrats, I can't believe these rare stuff are still available for sale in today's world...
I'd be happy with Amazing Spiderman #129....
hmm... teabat!
though probably protector as munitioner & explorer never came. windcharger is probably up there too. but now that i think about it, generations thrust & dirge were good too.
Only yesterday & not TF related, but easily the acquisition of the year for me:

My eyes, my eyes!!!:p very big bling there dirge!!
Hmmm acquisition of the year, hmmm there's been quite a lot.well thinking it through , here they are in their order...
1. G1 Wreckgar - which was given to me by a co-worker:D why him? well, he is... was the last figure I needed to complete my G1 (US released) figures and this year I finally achieved that (last April)... it also makes my G1 collecting kinda meaningful that it has come full circle - I got my very first figure (Soundwave & Buzzsaw) free from my aunt, and my very last G1 figure (needed) was also given to me free - full circle - whatever G1 figs I buy now is more of just to improve the existing one I have - mebbe better condition than the one I have now but finally it's done and complete.
2. Jap G1 TFs (Star Saber, Liokaiser giftset and Dezsaras)- never thought Id venture to the expensive realm of Jap G1s but hey why not hehehe? With the help of kelvinchang99 I finally got started, though if this will be pursued in earnest as US based G1 - nah I think not - too pricy, Ill buy whenever there's a good opportunity and enough dough to throw around. These guys top it off for most expensive purchase for me this year... and I got it for bargain price - thank goodness!!:D
3. 3rd party products - Munitioner, Explorer and Protector - unofficial they may be, these are quality beautiful toys and Im happy and proud to own em.
4. Euro G1 Slicer - this toy has given me such a traumatic episode in dealing with sellers in ebay - first time ever to go Paypal claiming. The heartache and anger I experienced just to get this freakin simple toy has made a mark in my mind so he counts even though the experience is not a good one, which is why I really value this one AM very much.
5. accessories - Bomb-burst's left wing shoulder pad - weird ei? but yeah this tops MP grimlock - which I bought and is my 6th in the list. Why - it just bugged me to no end really, but it took 3 years of trying to find this freakin accessory. I usually am quite lucky finding stuff in Parra fair and online and I was not willing to buy a whole new Bomb-burst just for this part - for three years I patiently waited for one to show up - and thanks to fatbot :) finally, finally my basic pretenders is complete!! it's like getting a whole new toy:D:D the other was Broadside's missles - same as above hehehehe. Finally found it online- it almost got lost in the mail and had to email the seller where the heck is the item ... good thing it showed up or it wouldve been another Paypal case and more years of trawling the web for two little missles. There are other still accessories I need but these two really bugged me when I look at the figure and they don't have em.
Probably the Predaking Reissue. He's perfect!!
For me it was getting Overlord. I got the Hasbro version and was really impressed with it. I'd been watching Masterforce but I don't think I'd ever seen the toy in person before. It looks awesome, big, was in perfect and complete condition and the multiple modes are all fun.

I have to say mine was Masterpiece Grimlock, just because of all the drama surrounding getting this toy! To recap:
+ MP Grimlock came out last year in Japan, but shortly before my daughter was due to be born. So given the rather hefty RRP on the toy, I skipped it.
+ I walked into Hasbro's office, then located in Eastwood, asking if they had any plans of releasing MP Grimlock in Australia. They took down my contact details and told me that they'd get back to me. I was told that MP Grimlock would _not_ be released here and pretty much advised that if I wanted one my best bet would be to get one from Japan.
+ TOMY releases their limited edition MP Grimlock - featuring an awesome crown, but in what I consider awful Nel Yomtov inspired colours. Blecch.
+ Come 2010, Hasbro releases MP Grimlock at TRU here. It has nice G1-toy-accurate colours and the crown. Sweet! Still quite expensive though, but oh well.
Easily Fansproject's Munitioner & Explorer for me. Brilliant figures, great articulation, aesthetics & transformations. Easily the best representation of Blastoff we've ever had, and arguably Swindle too (Animated Swindle is pretty neat). But most of all, it turns the mediocre... nay, pathetic Bruticus Maximus into my favourite Decepticon of my entire classics collection.
Congrats on the engagement dirge! Have you set a date yet?
No, no date. But we're hoping to do it on our anniversary.. (:
Probably be my MISB Go-Shooter which I think I got at a reasonable price.
But 2011 should be a very good year :D
There's a few that stick in my mind for a few different reasons
1. Masterpiece Grimlock - He's huge and full of awesome fun. Plus after all the waiting and finally having the desire fulfilled was great. :)
2. G1 Sludge - It was my first OTCA auction and allowed me to finally replace a figure that I broke and threw out as a child.
3. Animated Rodimus - As Bartrim said. It's pretty much awesome. :)
Animated Arcee or BW Rampage.
Henkei Crystal Convoy and Wildrider, in the same month.
I remember seeing a preorder for wildrider when I first started collecting: $165 for a transformer AS IF LOL!
I totally regret not buying it then.
So aside from SG Rodimus (aarargrhrg!) my classics/henkei line should be pretty easy to complete. :) maybe next tax return! :o:o;)
Congrats dirge. Any thoughts on transformer themed wedding:D
1. Without doubt, my acquisition of the year is the TPB of Last Stand of the Wreckers. I've lost count of how many times I've read it already...Its simply inspirational stuff!
My favourite actual Transformer of 2010 is HFtD Tomahawk *cough Rotorstorm*
Non-Transformers related stuff...
2. Ticket to see Orbital live in Brisbane. You could certainly tell they brought their own sound engineers. The bass...The bass!!!
3. Ticket to see Little Dragon live in Perth (as part of the Gorillaz concert). Unlike other states in Australia, WA only heard Little Dragon for 30 minutes before the Gorillaz came on stage (we didn't get a side show :(). But man, what a thrill to hear this amazing band perform live. Spine tingling stuff!
4. Plethora of Audio gear while the Aussie dollar soars. Just in time for my Electronic Music Production course at SAE in 2011. :)
5. Deadly Premonition (Xbox 360). Finally after so many delays the PAL regions get to experience the best psychological horror/thriller since Killer 7. It would be naive to dismiss this game based on its dated visuals and clunky gameplay as Deadly Premonition is so much more than the sum of its parts. The car conversations are worth the price of admission alone!!
