Best glue for Broken plastic?

Hi repair experts. I just broke a small wing tip from one of my star sabre masterpieces. It's the wing tip piece on the chest wings. It's a nice clean break that should be easily resolved with super glue.

But before I go in with the super glue, are there any more specialised high grade hobby glue products that will work better than generic superglue? I find that with super glue, the piece tends to be quite weak and fall off if you're not careful with transformations.


I remember when I was a kid, I used plastic cement for model kits that would melt the plastic etc.

For general repairs I sellys all plastics glue, it's a two part glue: primer and adhesive you can get it at bunnings

+1 this stuff is pretty amazing, it's designed to be used with toy plastics (something to do with different polymers in toy plastic).

Depending on how good your handiwork is and how thin the width of the break is, Loctite 401 bonds like a god. I used it on G1 Thunderclash to fix GPS on his feet.

Yep. Loctite for me too.
I use the small, squeezy bottle from Bunnings.

Thanks guys. Both look better than my superglue. I think I'll go grab the selleys since it has a pen applicator.

tamiya extra thin plastic cement might work. That's available from most hobby shops.

If it doesn't work, there is a product called Plastic Magic from Deluxe materials which may work (this dissolves more plastic types than tamiya)

You will need some experience with applying these. Basically, hold the parts together and dab a little into the joint and let it run in. If you overapply it, you might end up with a huge molten mess.

For anyone that is thinking of going the superglue route, I highly recommend getting one of these types of tubes of whatever brand you chose. They are much easier to control the amount of glue coming out of than the traditional metal tube. Yes it cost a little more but you want control to prevent getting excess glue over your item.

it should do but just make sure you line it all up right first because it sets fast in about 5 sec. Good luck!
