FEB 2016 - Titan Wars

Unknown original posting - mirrored posting here.

Headmaster Star Convoy / Laser Prime from G2.

Headmaster Megatron is obviously Blitzwing, but with a Megatron head. You can see his tank turret on his back, and jet fins on his ankles. He comes with two guns which merge to form his big cannon that can plug into his arm. Megatron's head looks very G1 in head mode. In "Nebulon" mode it has a red torso, and grey limbs.

Chromedome's getting repainted as Getaway. Head looks G1.

Triggerhappy is a headmaster who looks very G1.

Hot Rod is a headmaster who looks G1 in vehicle mode. Robot mode looks vaguely IDW to me. Small waste. Long thinghs. Big hexagonal kneepads with vents in them.

Alpha Trion's a triple changer. Beast Mode is a wolf with a unicorn horn (I have no idea why). Jet mode looks very Vector Prime.

Weirdwolf looks good. Very G1.

Powermaster Prime is getting a Diaclone repaint, so it's a blue COE truck. They seem to be calling it Magnus Prime or something along those lines (I can't remember for sure).

Tidal Wave seems to be coming back (investor art, photoshopped, rough). Looks like it'll share a mold with Broadside. Vehicle mode seems to be USS Flagg homage. Part of "strength series". Tidal Wave's head is called Powerhouse. Grey body. Green limbs.

Decepticon Clones. Looked to me like they have a Predaking. And the D-clones were Predaking parts. Same with Horri-Bull.

Sharkticon looks very round and G1.

Technobots look like you'd expect. But Afterburner is weird. Instead of making him G1, or just an orange Takara Groove, he's got this really long warped/bent windshield. It looks awkward to me. But that was my only complaint from everything I saw.

SDCC Fort Max comes with red sword. Has blue hands, instead of white.

They don't reveal the actual source of the photo so could just be a custom.

Fungal Infection 26th September 2016 12:29 PM

Was a diaclone Metroplex ever made?? As far as I recall, the only recolour would be Metrotitan right?

The link that philby posted has pictures in the comments section of Diaclone Robot Fortress X which shares a similar colour scheme and head to the one pictured but is not based on the G1 Metroplex mold. Very obscure though.

OptimusNerd 27th September 2016 08:15 AM

Definitely a custom. Link to original (Twitter) photos in this TFW forum.

A custom BUT this is what a SDCC or AKG? exclusive should be. Far better than a different set of stickers or minimal paint difference (looking at you Metroplex).

DaptoDog 21st April 2017 05:48 PM

This is a RUMOUR. One of the well connected members on TFW claims there will be a MP-36C sold as a TakaraTomyMall Exclusive that will be toy accurate silver / chrome. No news on when this will be released so please treat as only a rumour until it is confirmed.

Ploughmans Lunch 21st April 2017 07:14 PM

Would've been nice if there was an MP-36B instead, but hope springs eternal I guess~!

I'm sure this body mold will be (happily) milked for all it's worth! ;)

2nd hand rumour: TT MP Constructicons on the way

I can't provide any firm source on this. It's a "friend of a friend" scenario, with the former being a BBTS employee that claims they've been given a heads-up on incoming TT products.

One of these is:

one of the products on the horizon is an official TT Masterpiece Devastator!
He went on to say that a mold currently exists and that we will be getting a first sneak peak in the "not too distant future".

If true it'll be exciting news! :D Keep those fingers crossed...

Initial_G 25th April 2017 08:12 PM

Cool!, hmmm, guess I'll hold off on Toyworld's Devastator a little longer then.

Paulbot 25th April 2017 08:23 PM

I don't see how they would be that different to the Titan Devastator...

hYpNoS 25th April 2017 08:43 PM

Last I heard in cybertron con the TT team expressed interest in mp combiners and the dinobots (they wanted to do the whole lot but a grimlock 2.0 could be on the cards), but they mentioned bruticus as their first piece...

If I recall from a jp magazine interview the way Hasui designed the current titan devastator was to be "mp-like" product which would help better explain the newly added bits and the fact each one is voyager sized (or a neat little excuse for being so unnecessarily big :D)

I have my doubts on this, but honestly, I would love to be wrong, my question is how much of a heads up would a bbts employee get and why, I know the loopaza megastore on facebook often gets early wind and usually throws up the pre-order listings long before anyone else does but those guys are based in asia so (in my opinion, not fact) I'm surprised an american source got early wind before an asia source.

They get mix master right but to be real honest I am not excited about this.
1. I have no space
2. The titans one is good enough for me.
3. Knowing TT is not quality built

Not even thinking about price, I just want jazz

That's correct. Shogo Hasui said that he treated Combiner Wars Devastator as a Masterpiece because there were no plans for one for the foreseeable future - in fact, he incorporated design ideas he had had for an MP Devastator into its design:

Quote:

Concerning the points that are designed based on the original G1 version, it’s constructed similar to a masterpiece (transformer). The toy of course incorporated elements of the anime design. In fact to clear the tight development schedule, there are parts where I apropriated (sic) ideas for use in an MP Devastator that I had written down a long time before. I thought: “doesn’t this seem like the only chance I can make a giant MP Devastator, if I do my best here then the thing that the fans eagerly waited for can be realized”. I had the sense that there was nothing like it before. If it surpassed a masterpiece wouldn’t that be terrible (smile).

Thanks for sharing this. CW / UW Devy was awesome but this would be unreal if it comes true. And more significantly, it will point to more Combiners being done down the line.

Like anything rumours related, I'll believe it when I see it.

^^^ what he said. I'll take it with a chunk of salt

That's what I had heard too. If he's blown his load of ideas on the CW version, I have doubts they'll revisit this anytime soon.

Smint 26th April 2017 01:58 AM

It'll just be interesting to see the current MP design team take on the engineering needed for a great combiner. 3rd party combiners like the ones from Maketoys have been awful in their complexity.

1. I have no space
2. The titans one is good enough for me.
3. Knowing TT is not quality built

Not even thinking about price, I just want jazz

...ouch, just because the coneheaded seekers are a mess doesn't mean all of them are (even mp36 is built well, it just...tight).

Ah yes the fine line between fun and complex, I would assume 3p fans would enjoy the increased complexity while TT knows its not just the looks possibility and durability but the transformation needs to be something good to write home about too, they learnt from the mp05 days:D

Well thats just it. There is no reason they could not use the Titan class as a starting point and refine/redo what they want. Look back a few years and I think you can often see the proof of concept / trial figures that made a bigger idea come to fruition.

The idea is plausible - 3P is in the area (and Takara like to hunt them), and the Tokyo Toy show must be coming up. That a BBTS employee is the first to release this info is less convincing.

Oh, and they just engineered a great Megatron so they hz da mad skil1z required.

GoktimusPrime 26th April 2017 09:16 AM

A rumour of a rumour on the interwebz? It must be true! :p

How funny would it be if TakTOM did actually release an MP Devastator, but it was basically a redeco of UW Devastar in an MP box - ya know, just like how they repackaged Movie Bumblebee and Starscream in MP boxes and called them MPs. ;)

DarkHyren 26th April 2017 09:50 AM

It's a nice rumour but like others have mentioned CW/UW Devastator is a good stand in for a MP and has some MP engineering so I'd personally rather see and think that they will tackle another team, we are long overdue for a larger more to scale official MP Grimlock.

If this rumour is true though imagine the price point if it came as a complete box set, it would put some of the third party offerings prices to shame

Ploughmans Lunch 26th April 2017 10:37 AM

I <3 rumours though.

Borgeman 26th April 2017 10:40 AM

If it came to fruition they would end up sitting in the $100-$150 range per fig depending on their size/scale.

While I own both CW and UW Devvies, an MP combiner would be unreal.

I am judging on overall MPs not just a ramjet, Thundercracker, ironhide, or Ratchet.
And I am base on Titans Devy as well.
Sorry if I am harsh, but that the person I am when I am collecting toys, I do not admire boxes, "long live awards" etc..... I am only interested in the end product.

Last thing I want is a flawed product charging people at high prices.

Devy would be in a separate set if they release this.

Bladestorm 26th April 2017 12:14 PM

I'd love to see this but shudder to think of the price. If a regular MP is already around the $100 mark... what would these guys retail for? Would they be sold separately or as a team?

And just to confirm... we are talking about the G1 Constructicons right and not that thing they used in Revenge of the Fallen with the giant testicles?
My son has no interest in a Bayformers Devastator but would be begging for the G1 version in a heartbeat.

Initial_G 26th April 2017 12:14 PM

Maybe it'll just be better plastic, colours and added die cast UW Devastator, with lights and sound effects, can't forget those :)

pretty sure is movie version we are talking about. lol

GoktimusPrime 26th April 2017 12:50 PM

I would rather see TakaraTOMY work on realising the rest of the Dinobots as MPs over another Grimlock (which I'd likely pass up on).

Is it because he has standards? ;)

kurdt_the_goat 26th April 2017 12:56 PM

Though an MP Devastator would make one hell of a showpiece on the shelf, i'm not sure I want this. After Megatron, i've been enjoying not having something on pre-order for once! As a 6 bot set, the price in one hit would be a big deterrent. As 6 separately over the course of a year or something - i'd rather have a variety of characters instead.

With so many fans already buying one of the many unofficial Devastators, I don't know how many of them would be willing to pay up again for an official one. Much like the remaining Dinobots, i'm not sure i see it happening because of price.

I know what they need to do. Go back to CW and do a properly sized Devastator and if they can make the arms and legs with scramble city interchangeability, all the better.

Crosshairs or Orion Pax from TR Kup?

A photo of a recoloured TR Deluxe Kup toy has surfaced with no details to say if it is legit, and what character it is meant to be (or if it is just a miscoloured prototype).

The colours have some people thinking Crosshairs, as the other three Autobot Targetmasters (Crosshairs, Pointblank, Sureshot) are likely to be done soon, now that the three "new character" Decepticon Targetmasters are confirmed (Triggerhappy, Misfire, Slugslinger). Not that Gen1 or TR Kup could pass as Crosshairs without some significant remoulding (even still, the vehicle types are completely different).

Orion Pax is also an option, as the Gen1 Kup toy was released in red and blue by Ehobby almost 10 years ago, as Orion Pax. If it is Orion Pax, it is more likely to be a JP exclusive to Ehobby or to the June Tokyo Toy Fair.
