Whoops..... Will be next week.... Damn crappy episode guide on my stupid tv
I hate them doing this double episode format, because they make it into one long episode, cutting out the closing scene of the first episode and the opening scene of the second one.
Tonight on SBS is the "Transformers" episode of Mythbusters. Unfortunately it would have already started down south... as I only saw it on the guide just now.
From reviews on TFs fansites don't expect anything specifically related to Transformers... I think all they do is just modify a vehicle to make it transform.
Sign of a sad super-geek spotting an "inaccurate" prop for an 80s TV show... by freeze-framing a scene at the start of that episode to see what version of Optimus Prime Adam is holding onto while talking to his dad, and noticing that it is not an original 1980s Optimus toy, but must be one of the 2004/2009 Hasbro reissues because of the small smokestacks. :o:o:o
(I actually laughed out aloud when I saw it, because I then imagined being one of those obsessive people for details, complaining about the TV show being cheap/lazy by not using a real 1980s Optimus toy... :p )
How weird is this... two episodes of the Simpsons in the last two weeks had Transformers references.
One was on last week, called the Treehouse of Horror 19, which had a bit about an alien transforming robot race destroying Springfield while battling, until Marge convinces them to stop fighting each other... only to have them team up to enslave the Humans of Springfield. It was actually very funny because two were very much homages to Optimus and Megatron... and there was a transforming Malibu Stacy car (their homage to Barbie), making it look like a Barbie Transformers crossover toy.
The second episode that was on this week was just a regular episode, but for some reason, a random guy showed up with "Transformers The Ride" on the back of his work gear, but there was nothing said or done about it or about that guy... so it was just product placement, which is really odd for The Simpsons (who only do fake product placements to make fun of how bad they can be done - and this didn't relate to anything in the episode that I could tell, so just didn't make sense).
In the movie The Professional, starring Jean Reno & a very young Natalie Portman, a brief showing of Sludge in the TF cartoon on the tv kinda spooked the killer & saved Natalie's character's life.
Well played good sir.
(I'm only a few year's late to the party)
On tonight's 7:30 Report, there was a segment on Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) with a case involving Goldie Marketing Pty Ltd who incidentally manufacture & distribute the licensed Transformers 30th Anniversary mini-figurines (among other toys). The owner of the company was facing financial hardship.
really the other way around, but i just noticed in this clip of jazz doing his 'musical sonic boom' that when he goes outside onto jetfire, jetfire says 'watch out for that first step, it's a doozy!' reckon it's a reference to groundhog day? :)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KULYI_atD6g
Groundhog Day probably took it from Transformers if one copied the other, as that movie was released in 1993... almost 10 years later.
Seems that musical directors are running out of ideas by turning movies into stage productions - I just saw on the wiki page that they are doing a musical version of Groundhog Day this year...

I wouldn't mind a Planet of the Apes musical so long as it's a close match to the excerpt we saw in The Simpsons:

It's the exact same thing as is happening in cinema. There's plenty of new and original musicals being created (just like there's plenty of original movies being made) but musical and movie producers know that if they use an existing property the brand recognition will sell more tickets.
So there's a steady flow of both new musicals and movies that are adaptations of existing movies/books and sometimes the movie producers will look at musicals based on movies and turn them into new musical movies! (Hairspray, The Producers). And there's a couple of musicals based on movies that I love much more than the original films (Legally Blonde, Shrek, Priscilla, and Billy Eliot are in my top ten musicals of all time).
Meanwhile, in Bollywood... ;)
There's just something about watching a musical horror movie that makes it less scary
in a few weeks I'm seeing this dnb DJ known as Cyantific and his debut album is this:

Henkei Grimlock makes an appearance in the music video of Alex Lahey's You Don't Think You Like People Like Me
Tonight's episode of Family Guy. Chris Griffin (the son) wears an Optimus Prime costume to a dress up party. Hooks up with a girl in a closet, who turns out to be Meg (his sister). Ewwww.
In the animated film Hulk Vs., there is a fight scene between Loki (in Hulk's body) and Thor, where Loki said, "I have waited an eternity for this, to crush you with my bare hands ...", and Thor responded, "Never!"
I think the screenwriter might have seen TF:TM too many times.
I'm watching the aussie comedy movie Downunder (about the aftermath of the Cronulla Riots) and playing on the stoner video store clerk's car stereo is Stan Bush's The Touch. Was not expecting that.
Speaking of The Touch, I don't know if people here know this (it's probably common knowledge by now I suppose); but Mark Walbergsangbutchered the song in Boogie Nights about 18-19 years ago.

From Episode 5 of Season 8 of Robot Chicken
Narrator: This spring, the Transformers gain a new ally.
Optimus: Autobots, transform and roll out.
Narrator: From Amazon's hit show "Transparent," Jeffrey Tambor is the Trans Transformer.
Jeffry: Uh, guys, hold on. (uses phone) Hi, I'd like to schedule gender reassignment surgery. Man to woman.
Optimus: Oh, for god's sake, Pfefferman, transform and roll out!
Jeffry: This isn't a quick process.
A pair of references in anime.
In the English dub of the anime Sgt. Frog, the second story of episode 34 called "Frog on the run" there is a scene where the Characters Fuyuki and Keroro find a construction vehicle demolishing a building and have this (slightly erroneous) exchange
Fuyuki: It kinda looks like a Constructicon.
Keroro: Oh my frog god, I hadn't thought of that. I might just be looking at an actual, real life Transformer.
Fuyuki: Yeah, it's too bad though. It's gotta tear down that old building.
Keroro: Kero? he should be fighting Decepticons, leave the Pekopon destruction to Agol Mois. Heehee, yeah. I should really get around to conquering this place.
The series (a comedy about a group of Frog-like aliens coming to conquer earth, but mostly just goofing off) was always full of referential humor, but the English dub really goes all out making pop-culture references and trying to be as "funny" as possible. personally, I really enjoy it.
in another anime I enjoy that is full of pop-culture references. Hayate the Combat Butler (Hayate no Gotoku) during the first opening theme song of the series. there is a moment where the shadows of 3 giant robots loom over the protagonists. one of which is clearly G1 Optimus Prime.

The Goldbergs did it again with some more awesome Transformers in the show. I am going from memory but it is Season 4 Episode 10, "Han Ukkah Solo". Adam is looking at a toy catalog and there are some Transformer he is circling whist also shots of Metroplex and I think the Contructicons in the scene.

Last night's episode of Family Guy titled Ocean's Three & A Half had Megatron in it.
Short YouTube clip of it here.

This still shot (from the net) was taken from an episode of Family Guy titled Tiegs for Two. Who's the Con standing in front of Shockwave?

From left to right:
Skywarp, Starscream, Shockwave, ??? (green, yellow & orange Con), Megatron, Scrapper, Astrotrain, Hook, Negatron, Rumble, Soundwave & Frenzy.
After a little bit of research I found out that it's Barrage: http://transformers.wikia.com/wiki/Barrage_(Insecticon)
A very funny Family Guy DC cutaway and here it is on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w1n0SVjZ_d8
:cool::)
This clip from Family Guy (1:32-2:12) there's a calendar on the wall with a car that looks a lot like G1 Tracks.
Forgot that Faith No More's We Care A Lot has a reference to Transformers in it:

When you see a momentary flash of a yellow toy on a Mitsubishi Outlander commercial and recognise it as a Transformers toy.... that's when you realise you know way too much about these things. :p

(the commercial must have only been filmed in the last 2-3 months, as this toy has only been out since the beginning of this year)
For those who watch a bit of SBS, you may have seen the "Baking Month" promos recently that have a new show on during June, called Cake Wars, with some commercials showing an Optimus Prime cake.
The cooking contest show "Cake Wars" has had five seasons in the last two years, with each episode being themed for the contestants, and during the fourth season (late 2016), they had a Transformers episode.
It aired in America on October 31st, 2016, and if scheduling holds up, it should be on channel 33 (SBS's food channel) next Saturday (June 10th) at 7.30pm.
They are showing season 4 episodes on Saturday and Sunday (2 episodes per day), while showing season 3 episodes on Monday to Friday (one episode per day). Since the Transformers episode is the sixth one in season 4, it should be on next Saturday.
The official website only shows the winning cake, which is photo 17 & 18 on their slideshow, so to see how it is created, and the other cakes that didn't win, tune in next weekend. (if my estimate is out, I will post up a correction as soon as it shows up on the tvguide)
While looking to see if this was posted up here last year when it was mentioned on the American fansites (we didn't), I did come across this Transforming cake posting from 2015... which is worth mentioning again.
Okay... yesterday they played episode 13 of season four (between episodes 2 and 3)... so the Transformers episode (number 6) will now be on Sunday 11th June at 6.30pm.
