In ten years, Michael Bay plans to go back and improve his movies like George Lucas did with Star Wars. ;)
Peter Cullen based his rendition of Optimus Prime on Bobcat Goldthwait.
In the G1 cartoon Peter Cullen only voiced Optimus Prime in the first 3 episodes. Due to a pay dispute he refused to do the role after that, but the soundalike they brought in still had to be credited as Peter Cullen due to union reasons and, ironically, Peter Cullen still got paid royalties.
The real Peter didn't voice Optimus Prime again until the 2007 movie, which is why he sounds a bit different in the movies than what we're used to hearing in the G1 cartoon.
I heard this! I believe it was actually Frank Welker who voiced both Prime AND Megatron after the Cullen pay dispute. Frank also mentored David Kaye which is why he was able to lend his talents to playing a Megatron and an Optimus later in life. Yesssssss.......
Oh please. We all know Michael Bay voiced all G1 cartoon characters as a means to pay his way through The Swooshy Camera Movement and Over the Top Explosions Directors School.
In early versions of the 1986 Transformers Movie script, Megatron was to be reformatted into Gigatron. However, Hasbro was unable to secure the trademark and so the name was later changed to Galvatron.
At one stage Hasbro was thinking about making Transformers that can transform into nations (e.g. USA, USSR etc.), but after discovering that fans refer to Cityformers as "Cits," they decided not to go ahead with making Countryformers.
