Default IDW Limited Edition Hard covers

Just when you thought the Hardcover editions were collectable enough already (and expensive)... IDW is about to release Limited Edition Hard Covers.

Starting with TMNT, but later covering their other major comic publications, IDW will have 3 "tier" editions - Red (rare), Black (super rare), and Blue (OMG does it even exist).

As an example of what to expect for Transformers, these are the three versions for TMNT:

-Red Label Edition is limited to 175 copies, features a custom cover, is housed in a limited edition slipcase and paired with an artist’s portfolio containing a unique, spot-color sketch of one of the Ninja Turtles done by series artist Dan Duncan.

-Black Label Edition is limited to 25 copies featuring the IDW Limited custom cover and is housed in a hand-built traycase, along with an artist’s portfolio containing a multi-color illustration of two classic TMNT characters by series artist Dan Duncan.

-Blue Label Edition, the rarest tier being offered, is limited to only 10 copies! For this special version, series artist Dan Duncan will be creating full-color illustrations of the entire Turtle team in action. Each book is packaged with the IDW Limited cover inside a hand-built tray case.

    Very clever strategy here.

Does anyone have the sales numbers for the TMNT and TF IDW comics? I'd like to see if the numbers are comparable so we can get an idea if the numbers in the three tiers would be similar.

Not that I'd be able to afford them anyway!

Apart from the "Sketch" and the Autographs there is nothng special about these really, i really prefered what they did with the premier edition, the large format with the autograph plate on the inside cover. they also did that autograph plate with the art of Transformers book.

much prefered that over these editions.. (and the prices were reasonable too)

Pfft, some pretty horrible stories in the first series. Megatron origins, the McCarthy Contradicti-spotlights. The other half of the collection (Furman penned) is much better.

But shouldn't it all be rejigged now to include Autocracy (if it actually happened) inbetween Origins and the spotlights?
