Nope, it's basically same toy with a new hat. They are doing the same dodgy MP Ratbat tactic as if you wanted the cassette, you had to buy a whole new Soundblaster repaint, only that this seems more blatant.

Maybe 3Ps will offer a targetmaster for existing MP Hotrod.

I really don't like this trend of Takara's at the moment to base decos off AKOM animation errors. LG Kup's colours are also based on AKOM's work.

I've preorder it at HLJ just in case I end up liking it, but I'll probably cancel it some time between now and release. Glad HLJ has no hassle cancellations.

Never liked MP28 because the proportions looked wrong. Easy pass for me.

So I have MP-28, which has a superior colour scheme AND I still have my Offshoot from when I had Hasbro Rodimus.

What's the appeal in this release again?

For me MP28 while fun is one of the weaker releases in modern MP's so going to pass on this one. If they had done a comic accurate scheme like Grimlock all those years ago, then they might have got me. Don't really care about his Targetmaster, as Hot Rod spent all of 4 seconds as a Targetmaster in the fiction.

Still for those who missed out I'm sure this toy has merit.

People who give a damn about Purple-Rod, which is me for some stupid reason.

But even though I want it, yeah it sucks they are doing this.

I would buy a loose target master, but not the entire figure.
