Going to SE Asia, where can I buy toys?

Hi everybody!

I'm off to Thailand next month to do some travelling with the girlfriend, going through Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and all those good places. I've heard in the past that Malaysia and Singapore can be good for TFs - what I'm interested in in particular are early G1s and similar/pre-TF toylines (Diaclone, Beetras, Macross, Mospeada, Machine Robo, anything like that). Sadly it's most likely going to be restricted to window shopping, and I'm probably not going to be able to spend great amounts of time doing it.. but if anyone knows a few good places in either country to check out I'd appreciate hearing from you!

Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur, Mid Valley Megamall. Has several department stores and a TRU which you can find Hasbro TFs (may have figures that Hasbro AU didn't release) - and there's an import store on the top floor which has Japanese TFs at fairly decent prices.

NOW to Sanbot- YES, just go to Greenhills Shopping center. There's a whole floor of Hobby shops for collectible stuff. Also, there is the upcoming 10th annual ToyCon(June 17-19) at SM Megamall Megatrade hall 1-3 where you can buy a lot of bargain toys, not just TFs. Though it's a bit of a hit and miss if your after G1, then sadly not as rich as HK or Singapore would be. BUt, it's why Im timing my holiday for this year around that time (June) so I can attend the toyfair as well and meet-up with the local TF fans group there.

Here's a list of the toy/comic shops - mind you hough these are not close to one another but accessible by rail or bus. Although if you do get to Greenhills alone or manage to attend the Toycon (there's also one for December - Toys and Gifts fair) Im sure you get your fix....

Here's some pics I got from 2008, I didnt bother much to take shots of shops last year when I also went back for Xmas holidays coz it's basically them as well, with a few more little shops added but quite negligible.

No probs. These shops are owned mostly by collectors themselves so the prices would be at times not so cheap as of course they know what they're worth but often you find bargains and the local shops e.g. Shoemart (equivalent to BigW, Kmart etc here) have the more latest TFs only but they get their stuff earlier than we do. I bought my Bludgeon figure there last Dec and it came here around March? IIRC... also a slightly cheaper - $35 as opposed to the $45-50 they flog Voyager class here. Occasional Toysales will show you a dramatic drop in price, like - Deluxes go for $10-12....sadly Ive never been able to time it right.. but Ive managed to go during Toy fair's so Im quite happy and overwhelmed at times I end up with just pics and didnt buy a lot hehehehe

Oh and some shops on the list might need updating as they move at times to bigger locations especially Greattoys....
