Actually its possible to get an arcade cabinet for only $500 but you'll need to provide your own monitor, arcade stick and PC to do it. Its basically an emulator fitted to a cabinet. For those who live in the area, The Comic Shop in Liverpool has one up and running and when I first saw it, I was actually fooled into thinking it was a genuine arcade cabinet when in fact it was what I had just described. So its not that expensive to own your own arcade machine. There is actually a site which supplies these cabinets but I can't be buggered searching for the link.
If I want your opinion, I'll give it to you

That would be cool but I guess that it looses the in the nostalgic charm department when using something that is not the real article (even though many emulations improve on the graphics and sound with modern hardware).

Yes, but you need to purchase a coin box which plugs into your USB port - kinda impractical but if you wanna relive the retro experience, then hey, more power to you!

Games on 360 are cool like halo 3 and gears of war. Online game play is awesome. But sadly I can’t recommend due to the failure rate. Mines been in twice for repair and they won’t tell me what it is they actually repaired/replaced. The Xbox 360 warranty support line has people that have accents that I’ve never encountered before. I’ve been told by several sources that they maybe Indians that have been trained to sound like Americans (not that I’m racist or have a problem with that). Any way I had to buy an aftermarket intercooler for the beasty and its sound like I have a turbo in my (Well Ventilated) TV cabinet when it’s on. Touch wood been ok for a few months so far. The original xbox was reliable not the 360.

The 360 is basically a watered down Gaming PC. You open one up and you can see pretty much a customized version of the same hardware architecture that you would see on a PC down to the individual chipset manufacturers.

As a result of it being closely based on PC architecture it suffers from exactly the same faults and that is overheating. Modern gaming PCs need insane amounts of cooling to function properly and this reaches the point that some of the super high end gaming PCs need to use water cooling so that they can minimize excessive fan noise.

The 360 is a PC locked up in a tiny plastic box and of course it is prone to overheating due to lack of proper ventilation and cooling.

In WA, over the course of 360's lifespan, i've seen more in-store displays with the RROD than i have working units! And that's all i have to say

I don't doubt this, it already has problems over heating and then they get put into another small secure box which has reduced airflow again, the double cook method.
