Default Is this Skywarp real and not a KO?

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Transformers-...:B:SRCH:AU:101

It sort of looks semi-real, but it doesn't actually say Commemorative Series on the front. Is this the real deal or one of those dodgy 3/4 scale KOs that are now everywhere?

Looks like the real deal to me but the seller is on the bad sellers blacklist if I recall correctly.

I'm the one that put him on the bad list and have been tracking him and reporting any KOs he offers.

The Skywarp from these two auctions says "Commemorative Series":

    http://cgi.ebay.com.au/G1-Gen-1-Tran...dZp1638Q2em122

This is what led me to think the toys_magician's was a KO.

I'd say KO, they never had pictures of the takara mp01 in the front flap before. Plus yea, the box is wrong. Google for commemorative skywarp and you'll find how wrong that listing is.

Certainly makes you think twice when it is close to what you know, but has something minor missing, like the BT KOs. Those mini jets you are thinking of, have the jets showing in window on the front, so at least it isn't that. Like this one:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=370049083677

But looking up on ebay us, I did see the regular Skywarp reissue, with the green 'commemorative' bit, plus a different group of 'other figures' inside the flap. Like this one:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=300036571131

It also had me thinking that maybe the one you found could be a UK release, and maybe their's are slightly different (as with many of their TFs packaging over the years).

I had a look on ebay UK, specifically for the other figures that were inside the flap of the Skywarp you found, and came up with a few with similar packaging variations to the Skywarp, all listing the same other five available figures.
    Red Alert:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=140229362326
    Prowl:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=150243730513
    Inferno:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=120260008708
    Skywarp:

    Tracks:
    http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=200223116241

And the other one being Anniversary Optimus.

I think if you aren't worried about packaging, the toys *should* be the same. But maybe ask the dealer. But that dealer is one who lists everything as 'last stock' no matter how many he lists, and has listed KOs in the past.

I'd have to agree with Roller - Wait for the Encore reissue.

But that would have to be the first KO attempt they've made at a Commemorative Series figure (that I've heard about anyway)

But that prime (picture on box), has long stacks and a chrome grill, so can't be the anniversary version.

Also I'm a little confused, are you saying it's not a KO?

Also I think the UK releases have the extra gold sticker on the box don't they? But they all have had the commemorative text on them.

im gonna say fake for the following reasons, on comparing with my box (and some of my others):

all versions of these boxes (US/UK) have commemorative series plastered on the fron of the box.

it doesnt have the choking hazard warning on the top right of the box like mine

it doesnt have the little Registered mark next to the S in FORMERS, or next to DECEPTICON in the yellow on the bottom left

it doent have the TM mark next to the decepticon insignia and skywarps name on the bottom left

also, various TMs and registered marks are missing on the inside of the box

Well I guess you can take the safe option and just not get it. If ever in doubt, it's best to be safe than sorry.

I asked a friend from the UK who is one of the 'higher ranking' people on the TFW2005 forums (bit like dirge here, so I see him as being very reliable). I sent him the link to this topic, and he replied with:

    Hi there Mr Griffin,

I can confirm these G1 reissues are legit - I own the Prowl and Red Alert:

    http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...y/S6300002.jpg

The initial run of UK reissues carried the standard commemorative series text in six languages, but it dropped out for the later run which included these. I almost got the Skywarp but in the end fixed my original instead - however, from looking at him in stores, I can recall that he was the same as the one in those Ebay auctions.

Hope this helps out, and that you had a safe journey home after Botcon.

    Take care,
    Simon
Hope that helps clear this up.
