Buddhists also invented printing (750-768C.E.) and clockwork (invented by a Buddhist monk named Su Song some 300-400 years before European clockwork) and developed various fighting styles (e.g. Shaolin Kung Fu, Shorinji Kempo etc.) -- and probably a whole lot of other stuff, but it's difficult to historically verify if they were explicitly made by Buddhists or not. Japanese Katakana script was developed by Buddhists too - initially to transcribe words written in Classical Sanskrit, but today it's used to transliterate words from all kinds of non-Japanese languages, like English loan-words.
