And this is probably why less and less of my money seems to be going to the official stuff, specially Hasbro's.

If the coneheads are to be officially released then this whole thing would look better.

I dunno, the more I think about this news the better it all seems. On the one hand I can see why so many are discontent - we've shelled out hundreds on premium Masterpiece figures and now they're being re-released? People want new characters and are clearly annoyed that the Masterpieces they've already bought are in a way "inferior".

I guess the best thing to come out of this new direction for the MP line is that we can at least expect better designed, more cartoon accurate and very poseable future releases. Perhaps Tak didn't feel that their earlier work was true to form?

Whatever the reason, I'm beginning to see that perhaps these changes will be something great for the fans in the long run. Just need to get over a few speed humps first before we see a new MP

I don't think anyone who has shelled out three times to have each seeker in the MP Starscream mold has grounds to be indignant really.

If you're going to buy a mold 3-6 times to have every seeker obviously they're going to more frequently release seekers - it's a money spinner

Then they should have rectified it before releasing MP Starscream in the first place. As others have pointed out, this MP Starscream seems to based on the prototype MP Starscream design before Kawamori Shouji came along and changed things in ways that many fans didn't like.

Later versions of MP Starscream (and indeed with Skywarp and Thundercracker) tried to improve the plastic quality... but the design remained the same. Kawamori designed MP Starscream as a nice display piece, but absolutely craphouse action figure.

I'm not so much indignant as just blasé.

Yeah but it's not like people can accurately predict the future -- well I can't (if I could I would retire and win every Lotto, Powerball, Melbourne Cup etc. ). I picked up "Greenscream" even though the colours weren't G1-accurate (although as Ultra Marginal pointed out, they are arguably more real-life accurate... even if F-15s are more gray than green...) -- and nobody would've known about the delicate design and crummy plastic quality until after we'd gotten it and opened it.

And until now, I wouldn't have known that they would retool and re-release the mould like this. <shrug> I don't regret getting the original MP Seekers, because at the time it's all we had... but considering that I do have the MP Seekers - as nice as this retool may be - and especially given it's heftier price point, it just completely fails to interest me. I can see how it would appeal to people who didn't get the previous MP Seekers... but for those of us who did, it's essentially Malibu Stacey with a new hat.

Unfortunately after what happened with MP Rodimus, I am not fully convinced that the driving attitude is to produce greater quality products, specially when they have decided to mark up release prices for a retool.

Yeh but it might have been those very problems themselves that plagued MP Rodimus that finally shifted the attitude of the makers. Shelf warming, high production costs vs poor turnover? and just general design flaws are probably all precursors to this revised MP line.

I don't know what the justification for marked up prices on retools is, but I wouldn't mind paying a little extra for a higher quality piece. I've been patiently planning my move back into collecting the MP line in recent months, but I'm very, very apprehensive about buying any other current MP releases (besides the new Optimus) out of fear that they might bring out another Rodimus or Grimlock. Then I'd be just as angry as everyone else

With the new MP Prime and now this, and the new United toys...Is it just me, or have Takara totally lost the plot of late? It's like they're purposely sabotaging two of their greatest lines. Just seems bizarre to me. :/

Takara have become terribly unfocused since their merger with TOMY. Takara were way more awesome before TOMY (IMHO).

I don't see it, sure fans have been critical of the re-use of characters in the same line, or moulds people don't like but I don't see any evidence that suddenly they lost the plot just because some fans don't like what they have announced. Takara Tomy gave us 3 new MPs, Grimlock, Rodimus and MP 10 Prime, as well as continuing on the idea of Takara's lines in things like United and the Alternity line. Seems to me they are dong much the same things as usual.

On the matters of QC and even more so pricing on the other hand, that's a whole different ballpark.
