This is certinally interesting news.
Was expecting a Decepticon, but I guess we have to wait a tad longer for a non seeker mold to join the ranks.

Hope he is cheaper (these $150US+ MPs are getting rather expensive) and in scale with the new scale set by MP-8/9/10/11

Possible repaints are already making me drool over the red Sideswipe -- thinking Police.

I would imagine that the finished toy wouldn't be that big to stay 'in-scale' with the newer Masterpieces, though; the vehicle mode wouldn't be much bigger (if at all) than MP Hot Rod. Hopefully, if this is the case, it'll help to keep the end price from going too high...

I don't comment much but this is awesome, Sideswipe is my favourite character (and seems to be many other's as well). I'm just as surprised that Prowl or Ironhide didn't get the MP treatment before him but I'm not complaining. I guess it's his cult following over name recognition and repaint potential?

This is a bit disappointing. Maybe if they can do a redeco into Breakdown I'll consider buying it.

My only complaint is that it is not Prowl. Other than that I am pretty damm happy about this new MP. Either way it is not a "new" seeker or Prime mold so for that I am forever grateful.

Wow, this is a surprise, but a good one. As others have mentioned I would of expected some other characters to get the MP treatment first.

Anyway, can't wait to see some actual preview photos of this later in the year.

I would have preferred a Galvatron and Shockwave without a doubt. I am not against another character like Sideswipe being made into an MP but he would not have been within my first 5 choices or preferences.

While I'm not disappointed with Sideswipe and damn thankful for a completely new mould (and also not a re-do of already done characters), I gotta agree here. There was a "sort of" trend being followed at one stage.

Prime/Megatron. Seekers. Grimlock/Hot Rod/Rodimus. The next logical MP sure as hell sounded to me like it was going to be Galvatron. Sideswipe just doesn't fit in anywhere with the current line and doesn't really have anyone to be displayed with properly...

...unless, they do happen to do Sunstreaker next? That would be ok I guess...?

My guess is that someone in the design house had engineereed a pretty damn good MP Sideswipe which is why it's been put into production over other potential candidates who are more popular. Something like Ironhide would be more challenging to create without looking 'too' gappy though that didn't really stop them with Hot Rod.

Very much wishful thinking on my part but I would love a die-cast transforming Lambo. Die cast and motor vehicles belong together!
