Crowbar and Hatchet were both made from a DOTM deluxe Crankcase. The head and antenna things were removed. The head was removed by holding a soldering iron to the base of the metal pin holding the head on for a few moments then yanking it off. The horns can just be pulled off.
Crowbar
The head is from a ROTF Sideways. This head was also held on by a metal pin. It fits snugly into Crankcase's base but not securely: a good knock will knock it out.
His dreads are hair ties! I've glued them into the sockets under his bonnet, which means he can't transform properly. The bonnet sticks up a bit but I'm not concerned: this will mainly be in bot mode and if need be I can pull the offending dreads out.
Like a duck: smooth on top...
... a mess underneath.
Hatchet uses a commander Hatchet's head and hands. The head is simply glued on to the grey base. The hands were shaved down a bit to fit into Crankcase's wrist pieces. Unfortunately they are too big for a proper transformation, but my intent was more for a good bot mode.
I also drilled holes in his windows so comander Hatchet's gun/missile things can be plugged in.
Hatchet is a bit more spindly than I like; I'd like to beef him up but the Crankcase mold prevents that.
Removing Crankcase's hands for this custom was a pain. As some of you may know, pins used in Transformer toys often have one end ridged to stop them coming out. Well, all of Crankcase's hand pins is ridged! I ended up heating the wrist with a hair dryer then hammering merry hell out of the pins to get them out.
A show of hands
Bipedal mode (yes, he can hold his guns in his hands!)
OOGA-BOOGA!!!
BTW I've had to do this post at dial-up speed thanks to a teenage son soaking up our monthly broadband allowance, so I hope it turns out alright.
