Gok, I agree with you, which I why it's not a 'rule' so much as a guideline - avoid them until there's nothing much else. The object of it is to increase the challenge (as is providing a theme) and prolong the game, since the options those 3 letters provide are so limited that any use of them will pretty much kill the game.

I wish Transformer names had as much natural variation as place names do, then we wouldn't need to add restrictions to make the game more challenging.
