Apparently Mark Wahlberg is in talks with Bay about a part in TF4... hopefully a small part.

Unless it's a role like his Date Night one.

ETA: The Transformers fandom in general is hugely negative, and that's something that I wish would change but probably never will. And there's so many different places with different (but equally irritating, often unwarranted) types of negativity (but I'm not going to say specific places. If we didn't get such cool toys I don't think I'd have the energy to be a part of this fandom.

I agree... that's what I did after seeing ROTF and DOTM... I didn't trash it until after I saw it. But, unfortunately, Bay doesn't have a good track record (and I'm counting ALL his films, not just Transformers films), so I think it's perfectly reasonable for people to say they're not looking forward to it, or not expecting much.

Sadly, they're the ones missing out! Lol, If anyone thinks this forum is unfriendly, try going to one of the international forums!

Ozformers is, and has always been, exceptionally friendly and welcoming.

It's not just Transformers... every fandom is negative. Try going on a MOTU site, for example, and watch the venom flow. Seriously, passion for collecting has different effects on different people.

I don't really think we are really all that negative, I enjoy all points of view. I have a love/hate view of the last 2 movies. The first movie was a great starting point. I do think negativity can spiral out of control though, because others start to build on what others have said.

Honestly though whatever is produced in movies or toys and such, the producers have a hard time really, because they need to make it work to make money. As far as fans go, in pleasing us they may throw afew things our way, but they may as well as be damned if they do/damned if they don't because not all of us will like it or thought maybe should of gone with something else. We are the world's worst critics

Regarding the plot for this new transformers 4, its right its to early to judge.

If the news had been about Michael Bay being off the project or the casting of only Transformers and no humans or that it was being set off Earth I would have been super-positive. Unfortunately, the news was the opposite.

I actually don't mind Mark Wahlberg. I've got a new found respect for him after Ted!

Haven't seen Ted yet but it's definitely on my 'to watch' list mostly because I am a fan of Seth MacFarlane.

Meh i will go against the trend and say i am looking forward to TF4, whilst i enjoyed the movies overall i can see why the negativity as some aspects were ridiculous but hey it has grossed billions of dollars and bought a lot of interest back to Transformers which at the end of the day cannot be a bad thing.
My young neighbour watched the movies and started buying the movieverse toys but has now looked into TFs more and is becoming a full blown fan, so good things do come out of Bay world.

I am sure it will be over the top but i will watch it and enjoy it for what it is, a Michael Bay movie with Transformers in it

I enjoy the movies while I'm watching them. It's only when I think back on them that I start to feel disgruntled. I think I'm one of the few who enjoyed RotF much more then the first. DotM was also good though it felt forced.
My gripe is that the movies stand apart IMO from the rest of the franchise design wise.
Most characters when stood next to each other look as though they come from the same place. Put a movieverse character next to any other iteration of the same and it just feels alien. It doesn't feel "Transformers" to me. More like the difference between Machine Men and Transformers. Not a good comparison but best I can do.
It's also the way the movies tend to push out other toylines in favour of movie toys only to be cancelled before it's had it's full run.

I look forward to TF4. IMO each movie has been better then the last so it can only be better.
