    Default Giving it a Whirl

I've been working on a custom MTMTE Whirl. Pretty happy with it so far even though it's not going to be on model. I'll probably have to scratch build the head and I think his legs straighten out a little more in his VTOL alt mode.

    What still needs doing:

    • claws
    • Cut off nosecone and attach guns

Robot mode photos to be posted when the greenstuff cures and I can test fit them

    UPDATE:

The ball joints didn't work. I managed to attach the lower legs of a 07 movie payload as the forearms. Makes him look like Popeye but eh, what are you going to do?
This was possible by using an 07 movie deluxe brawl's elbows. Here's the robot mode as well

I'm still using the DOTM laserbeak parts (just the top part now.)

Last update for the night. Cut the tops of the laserbeak fans and stuck them down with blutak for the time being and used a rotf thrust head as a place holder.

New arms. Held together with blutak at the moment.

And look at how well the new arms integrate with the alt mode!

oooo now that is interesting. DOTM Laserbeak wings on a ROTF Thrust body with ROTF Evac legs... is that correct?

Yeah. The ball joint for the elbows didn't work out as planned. Looking at some alternatives right now.

MTMTE Jackpot. Just need to sculpt the boxy back part of the head and then paint.

That Whirl is looking pretty good - a good use of a variety of parts.

Thanks, it only needs a few more things. At the moment it looks less like mtmte and more of a, "bayformer", because of the parts used. Will post more wip pics soon.

OK, so looking at Whirl something was bugging me and what it was, was the VTOL fans attached to the Popeye forearms. How does that work? So I've decided to make the arms interchangeable and make a second set of arms that use the fans like in the comics. The first set of Popeye arms will be a sort of future-y FoC set that generate anti-grav in lieu of fans.

Yeah that sounds like a plan...

    Updates in first post.

Made new arms that integrate the fans nicely. I actually like them better must be because they're new ;-)

The new arms use half of Energon Starscream's lower legs and attach using Thrust's original swivel and elbow part.

Still needs claws. Maybe hinge them so they fold up like Prid Soundwave's.

Tinkered with the feet for the mandatory Whirl clown feet :-) other than that just filling and sanding, filling and sanding...
