I remember paying about $700 for the PS1 when it was first released The trick is to be happy with what you've got and wait for the inevitable price drop. First generation games are rarely any good anyway.

    True words.

The games library will not start of that great and by the time it picks up (assuming it does), the console will likely be half price and with add ons.

If I remember correctly, the biggest criticism of the PS3 was a lack of games library at release and this lasted for a while. It finally kicked into gear several months later, maybe a year before it gained strength.

    i'll wait and see.
they have only recently stopped making ps2 games, so i think the ps3 will be sweet for a while. stick with it. i often stop in skyrim and stare at the water and think, WOOOOOAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!! How far we have come in 10 years (i DL from ps-store a bit, psone games etc, mainly for my vita.) So these specs do make me want this, but not on release, i expect a 750 to 900 on release.

True, Sony confirmed in Jan this year that the console has been officially discontinued 13 years after it's release. Very few technologies have a shelf-life this long. I bought a spare last year just to keep it MIB (or, for when my other one eventually breaks).

A friggin' share button? I don't like where gaming is heading, hell I haven't since the blatant dlc money gouging. Thank god for PC.

I don't share (Facebook, Twitter) anything, but i think straight upload of game recordings to YouTube is pretty cool. I may not use it myself but there will be a huge influx of recordings on there one it gets out.

The system itself, there's no games that i want but if the local streaming of PS4 games to Vita comes to fruition, that'll get me interested for sure.

They'll definitely be cheaper than what they are now however I reckon they'll hold their value pretty well. The PS3 will be around for a looooong time yet.

yeah i agree, it just drop most likely be $50 as it a good blu-ray player as well and if the ps4 not backward compatible it be still around for a long time because of the huge library of games it has ..
