You get much more of a choice with with 1/144 & 1/100 but the higher you go in scale, the better the quality & design of the gundam, the trade off is the lack of choice plus the price. I still recommened the Strike from Gundam Seed. It's got a modern look, majority of it is white (easier to paint) and the panels are straight forward & easier to work with. Take your time with it though
Cheers, that's a helpful size comparison. I was thinking I'd start with a 1/144 but after reading this maybe I'll step up to a 1/100. The curvaceous calves & skinny arms on the Gundam Seed bug me a little so using the arms of a couple of 1/100 as the arms and legs on a 1/144 body might be the way to begin my experiments.

There are a whole bunch of different armour types that can clip on- Have a look at it!
That said, personally, Function-X 1 Code is *my* Chromedome.
Neat! It's not what I had in mind but I'm really curious to see what I could do with that! Thanks Icz128.
I like Function-X 1 too; comparing that to the comic shot of Chromedome I posted earlier is what made me start looking into this whole think. I really want to put together an IDW pre-war Chrome'.
