I picked up some Lego pieces that were recommended to me as a solution to that. They're neck-pieces with a back-piece, so you can still have the Kreons look right and actually see the chest art.
They were only 8cents a piece (plus shipping), and available in a few different colours, including greys that blend well.
It's been quite a few months since I've had anything come in, but when it rains it pours - pre-orders! Lot from RK aside from TFSS Scourge.
Aside from their obvious gimmick (which I am a poor sucker for), I find it really hard to recommend the Go! Combiners. The plastic they used feels strong and I have yet to find any stress marks, but it does not feel premium. I guess I was expecting a bit more in that area, and in paint aps. Whilst the combiner fists can hold his weapons steadily, the 5mm ports are just slightly too big to hold Microns which defeats the purpose of their combined sword mode for me. Lastly I can find no way to love Jinbu's plane, robot, combiner torso, combiner legs, or combiner head modes.

Mistransformed Go Kenzan a la peaugh's fix to shorten the legs and make the arms look less gangly - he looks really good when you don't need to see his major backpack.

Personally I'm hoping that the Shinobi set will be designed better.
