Default How do you classify Generations Metroplex?

How do you classify Generations Metroplex? Do you see him as...

    War For/Fall Of Cybertron
Classicsverse - Classics, Universe (2.0), Generations, Henkei, United, Reveal the Shield
    Both
Neither - you see him as belonging in another universe that is neither WFC/FOC nor Classicsverse
Don't care - you couldn't give a flying Trypticon's tail; your Metroplex just lives wherever the hell he likes. Noone's gonna argue w/ him cos he's friggin' Metroplex!

    ----------------------------------------------------

I personally classify him as WFC/FOC; reasons being:
+ The sound chip uses FOC Metroplex's voice and even has lines taken directly from the game.
+ While the mould isn't exactly like FOC Metroplex's game model, it's near enough - and there have been other FOC toys which aren't the same as their game design, e.g. Ultra Magnus (although Ultra Magnus' packaging does explicitly state FOC whereas Metroplex's doesn't).
+ To me he looks like he belongs w/ my WFC/FOC toys. He'd look out of place if I put him w/ my Classicsverse Autobots... not that I even have the shelf space on my Classicsverse Autobot shelves.

But I can see reasons to classify him as Classicsverse, including:
+ The toy design doesn't look exactly like the FOC design, and the box doesn't explicitly state FOC like Ultra Magnus'
+ The window stickers show Classicsverse characters, placing him in that universe and out of WFC/FOC

Also, please post pics of how your Metroplex is currently being displayed (e.g. on your WFC/FOC or Classicsverse shelf - or maybe you lump them all together (I used to), or something else etc.).

    Classics.
Though it's announcement coincides and raised hopes this would be FoC, the body shape and proportions are just aren't there.

Both. As you said Gok, the voice box plays grabs right out of the game and I seriously doubt this guy would currently exist right now if not for FoC.

However to deny he is also a classics version of the original Metroplex is just denying what is in plain sight. He looks like the original MUCH more than the FOC version. His alt modes are the same (in principle), the SDCC box art shows him with G1 versions of Prime, Prowl, Bumblebee and Sideswipe, not FoC versions. The list goes on.

Personally I don't see the big deal. Put him in whatever collection you prefer.

For me he fits in with my CHUG collection, as he looks nothing like the FOC version.

Playwise it doesn't matter. I frequently mix up toys from different series/universes during toy play. For me this sort of classification matters in 2 areas:

    1) Display. I display all my TFs according to faction and series. As I classify him as a FOC toy, he currently stands on my WFC/FOC shelf (which is one shelf for both factions, but Deceps on the left and Autos on the right). If I were to classify him as Classicsverse, because my Classicsverse Autobot shelves are maxed out, I'd have to rearrange _all_ of my Classicsverse shelves (plus my WFC/FOC shelf would be displaced too; so I'd be looking at least 123 Transformers that I'd have to remove and reshelve!) in order to accommodate a toy of Metroplex's size. So admittedly it is actually just physically easier for me to classify Metroplex as FOC too.

    2) Cataloging. My cataloging system lists all my Transformers according to series too; and I'd like to have that matching my shelving. So for the sake of consistency I've catalogued Metroplex as WFC/FOC.

Honestly to me this toy feels more like WFC/FOC, though I can see how he'd feel differently for others. Again I'd like to see people post pics of the shelf where their Metroplex is currently residing -- mine is standing on my WFC/FOC shelf (don't have time to photograph/post it tonight - I'll do it later), but I'd also like to see Metroplex in a Classicsverse display or displayed or however other way people see fit to display him.
