    Default Quick masterpiece query

    hi guys, me again!

I was wondering, do the masterpiece cassettes fit in scale with classics figures? I'm thinking they could be the best bet for classics representations of their characters, any input would be appreciated

They certainly do mate, if I get time I'll take a couple of shots and put them up for ya. In fact they work much better in that role than the Generations cassettes/disks, who are FOC based. The scale works really well

The Masterpiece cassettes are the same scale as G1; all the MP Cassettes can fit inside G1 Soundwave's chest and G1 cassettes can fit inside MP Soundwave's chest. Also the piledrivers from MP Rumble and Frenzy are compatible w/ G1 Rumble and Frenzy. I display my MP Frenzy w/ piledrivers (so he looks like cartoon Rumble) and my MP Rumble piledrivers on G1 Rumble.

I do the same with my MP Frenzy - using him as cartoon Rumble. I haven't tried putting the MP piledrivers on G1 Rumble - good idea! Gotta try that later

Whoa, so the Hasbro blue/purple Cassette robot is called Frenzy and the black/red robot is Rumble?!? As much as you all know I'm a die-hard toys-first RIRFIB fan, even I reckon that for Hasbro's MP it should be FIRRIB!!

My Takara MP cassettes are doing double duty as MP and IDW G1. I might grab a Hasbro MP Soundwave when he comes out here just so I have a set for the IDW/Classicsverse.

I was on the side of RIRFIB because the G1 toys and comics are that way, making it logical that FIRRIB in cartoon was a error. But now that IDW has made half their comics RIRFIB and half FIRRIB I've given up.

Yeah, but it's an error that's become a canonical truth for the Anglophone cartoon (much like says blue eyes on 'Bots and red eyes on 'Cons, Jetfire being called Skyfire etc.). Also Rumble was distinctly purple in the cartoon, not blue like the Frenzy toy. And MP Frenzy is very much purple, modelled after G1 Rumble's (or Frenzy in JP G1) colours... so it would be perfect sense for Hasbro to name the purple robot Rumble since the toy is coloured just as Rumble appeared in the Anglophone cartoon. It would also help differentiate the toy from the TakTOM version. TakTOM's already going for RIRFIP (which makes sense for their market), why not go for FIRRIP on the Hasbro version?

Yeah, that was frustrating... now they seem to have settled on basing them on their United toys, which is RIRFIB... so I've accepted it as so. The flip flopping has been most annoying though, I agree. Gah.

but i was under the impression the yellow eyes was toy accurate? shouldnt that mean that rirfib would apply to the cassetes?

not that it bothers me much because the only g1 i was really exposed to is the cartoon so forever it will be firrib!!
