Exactly what I was thinking...Somebody lent the mould? hahahah I doubt... sneaked it out more like it . In factories like these even with the death penalty as a deterrent, the lure of making more money coz of meagre salary is high.... of course the makers of this could have just bought one (after all it's already available in the market) and retro moulded it. IPs mean nothing in China factories anyways, it's all about profit.

Yes, well, I'd rather own a KO MP Ratbat rather than pay for a MP transformer I don't want. If TT or Hasbro ever release Ratbat on his own, or with some other cassettes, etc, I'll buy. But until such a time…

Until such time I'll just live without one. One great thing about MP Soundwave is that he's compatible with the G1 cassettes anyway, so there's nothing stopping me from playing with my G1 Ratbat (or Slugfest or Overkill or Beastbox or Squawktalk) with my MP Soundwave.

If it's a high quality counterfeit then it's more likely that the mould was snuck out. The best way to combat fakes is for people to stop buying them and drive these dirty low life scumbags out of business. As for a suitable deterrant/punishment, well, let's find the answer to Revenge of the Fallen's ultimate question:
"How many times can you get tased in the nuts before you can't have kids?"

Plastic moulds are blocks of steel that are the size of a Fort Max toy, which require small cranes to move around. And each mould would only produce about 10 parts. (as we've seen the mould tree photos each year at BotCon by FunPub)
With the number of mould blocks needed to produce all the parts for those two small figures, they'd need a small truck, a lot of time to install and calibrate each mould, and compatible plastic-injection machines... which would amount to industrial espionage if they were taken off-site to another factory. Or even done on-site in such huge quantities without authorisation, as I'd imagine that TakaraTomy owns the actual moulds that their Factories use. (the moulding, construction and packaging process would require several people, so wouldn't just be a one-person job, especially if there were a couple thousand produced)

Have a scroll through some of these image results for Industrial Plastic Injection Moulding, to see how big these things are. The Injection machines themselves can be the size of a mini-bus, or even bigger if they are a multi-stage machine.

It probably doesn't take long to reverse-engineer and reproduce these toys now, as they've been doing it for quite a few years. They are just getting better and faster at it... and they don't need to create expensive industrial strength moulds either, so can make cheaper ones that don't have to last as long or produce hundreds of thousands of units.

The entire Lambor have been KO except the latest.

The best way to combat fakes is have enough to supply of the originals for everyone.

Its a circle. If the fakes are good and cheap enough people will buy them because scalpers are not being helpful and they are selling at way ridiculous prices.

It can be a near difference of $20 saving from the original RRP but if sellers are selling $50+ extra that's where turns people to the dark side.

Have a look on Ebay, see a KO, how many watches there are, look at the original pieces and compare, they are no where near RRP.
