I can't clearly answer the poll either, I have paid all over the place for MP's. Some well below RRP some above and some on it. It depends on the item and how much I want it. I still don't have Grimlock but have seen him go on the secondary market from $250 (which I will pay) and $450 which I might pay in 25 years timeI missed the boat on him being released and I will have to pay a lot more to get him and I want it pretty bad. I picked up MP10 the day it arrived at TRU and it was $150, and once I bought 5 MP's in a lot and they were all well under RRP

It depends, MP01 was full of metal, if anything its worth to pay a bit more.
MP10 is like smaller and cost just as expensive, so is like a "please explain the justification?"
Like said, if you bought the new cars at about $60 each, that's a fair deal. anything above is like I have to consider if that character is worth it.
Would you be agreeing the Takara cassettes are overpriced? After seeing Hasbro's, I think they are.
MP10 --> Full RRP
MP11--> Skipped it but may pick up the Asia re-issue if I can get it.
MP12--> Above RRP.
MP13 --> Waiting for Hasbro in Oz.
MP14 --> Skipped it. Unlikely that I will pick one up at the current prices.
MP15 & 16 --> Waiting for Hasbro.
MP17 --> Below RRP.
MP18 & 19 --> Pre-ordered with HLJ.
It's a but of a mixed bag.
I don't think the Takara cassettes are over priced. Sure they might not have much plastic in them but Takara did have to spend money on engineering them, which Hasbro did not have to do. I think it's easy for people to forget that everything you buy had to be designed by someone and don't forget the tooling, packaging, freight and the retailers cut among other things.
As I said, in hindsight I'd allow for multiple option voting... but I didn't, so the best thing to do is to try and calculate how you paid for most of your new MPs and go with that, i.e. what the biggest proportion was. 56% of my new MPs were purchased below RRP, so I voted for that. If you're not entirely sure how to work it out, feel free to post a list of what you paid for which figure -- or if you'd rather not publicly reveal that, shoot me a PM and I'll be happy to help sort it out for you.
Just to use this as another example of how to vote, if we look at DELTAprime's patterns we can see:
Full RRP = 11%
Above RRP = 11%
Below RRP = 67% <---this represents the majority proportion of how he has bought his new MPs and should thus vote accordingly
Skipped = 11%
Same as MP11 Starscream, so 13000JPY / AU$141. This toy shelfwarmed and prices were massively reduced later (to nearly half price IIRC), so I was kicking myself for preordering like a sucker while people who waited ended up getting them much cheaper on clearance sales.
Try and see if you can work out what the majority were purchased at. Grimlock is part of the "Old" MPs btw so doesn't count for the purposes of this poll/thread. We're only looking at the "new" MPs which is everything from MP10 onwards.
Size and metal aside, MP-1 is also a significantly much more complex toy in terms of engineering/design.
So in you're case we can see:
Full RRP = 10%
Above RRP = 10%
Below RRP = 30%
Skipped = 50% <---vote here
In hindsight I probably should've omitted "and wait for Hasbro release" with the "Skipped" option because evidently many of us skip the TakTOM MPs without necessarily waiting for a Hasbro release, and even if one comes out, we may still skip that too.I know that when I skipped MP10, I had no clue that Hasbro would release their own version later on and that it would be priced well enough that I would want to buy it. I skipped it with the intention of just never owning that toy at the time. I did the complete opposite with Alert - skipped him hoping for a Hasbro release later, but that seems highly unlikely so odds are I'll never own that toy (which doesn't devastate me much as you all know what I think of that mould
). If I can find MP Alert at RRP or less (most unlikely) or in the also unlikely event that Hasbro manages to secure the licence and releases a local version, I'll get it. But most likely I'll just live without it.
So yeah, feel free to disregard the "and wait for Hasbro release" and just focus on the word "Skipped". If you skipped most of the TakTOM New MPs but have collected some others, then please vote on that poll option. Thanks.
RRP.
Give ot take, it's about a 60 RRP / 40 Early discount Pre Order split.
For me to consider purchase its rrp + postage. I always try to get under which is usually the case, and at times I'm over slightly maybe $10-30 due to postage.
When you're comparing MP10 with MP1 remember MP10 comes with a trailer, roller and Spike. MP10 trailer MUCH better then the trailer that came with MP4 does anyone remember how much MP4 was? I think I got mine for $200 at Target and we still didn't get Roller with MP4. Also I don't understand why so many people have a hardon for diecast in figures. Sure MP1 was cool because he was loaded with diecast but after 10years all the paint on mine is all chipped all over him making him look really battle damaged. And the ONLY Binaltech I have (Meister) has peeling paint all over him as well. Not to mention my Soundwave's feet are all scratched up as from just standing on my desk.
I remember when BT's came out the early ones had paint issues, all my BT's paint is still on, however, they are on display only and get treated very gently when cleaned.
