Default How much of the Generation one cartoon was Broadcast in Aus

Im prob testing a few memory banks here but this has been bugging me

Im currently rewatching the G1 cartoon with my boy every weekend and he digs the hell out of it. Its great. Its like watching it for the first time, watching his reactions, his love for the characters etc

Then i thought about when i watched it for the first time as an 8 yr old. It was on the Ch 10 the Early bird show. I know for sure i saw alot of season one, maybe season 2? I recorded on VHS a heap of episodes; fire in the sky, war of the dinobots, some great episodes

My Question is; when did it cease broadcast? did we get anything past the 1986 movie?

Cant recall at all. All i recall is seeing the 86 movie poster and thinking 'i dont know any of these guys, im not watching that.'

So either i lost complete interest and moved on or it just was no longer broadcast....

This one has had me perserverating for weeks now haha

Yep, seasons 1 to 3 were all shown on the Early Bird Show. I definitely remember watching post-movie episodes on the Early Bird Show, including seeing "Only Human" when I was in hospital in 1987. I don't recall seeing season 4 but someone else might confirm it was shown then. I believe they also showed Five Faces of Darkness in whole one Saturday afternoon.

In 1994 or 95, Channel 10 went through the whole series, season 1 to 4, daily at 3:30 in the afternoon (this is the first time I recall seeing Rebirth).

Chez tv on channel ten also played some G1 episodes on the Saturday morning version around 2000 too. Cosmic rust and dark awakening are two that I recall.

Well i must have just lost interest then.

Wow. Think it must have been that poster that killed my passion.

It originally screened on Channel 9 in Adelaide - Saturday mornings during Hey Hey It's Saturday (no, not the Daryl Somers / Ossie Ostrich show that most people would know, the Robby Roenfeldt / Winky Dink cartoon variety show ).

I remember watching the first episode - More Than Meets The Eye, thinking 'how cool is this!' and recorded the last half of the episode on BETA to watch over and over again.

Pre-internet and DVD box set days, I treasured my G1 cartoons taped off the TV like hoarded gold. I only had a few from when they first aired in the 80's, but I'm pretty certain they showed all 4 seasons as I remember as a kid wondering if Daniel would be staying in Arcee's head. When they aired the G2 cartoon in the 90's they definetly showed at least some of Season 3 because I was able to tape ep's like Webworld etc.

Yeah I also loved all my tapes of the toon. Would hate missing a second so would have the VHS recording then instantly press pause on the 'wired' remote as soon as Daryl and Marty showed up every 10 mins Then press record again as soon as the show was back on

Ahhhhh the memories. What a time

    And Beta? Wow that rocks

I remember that, first time I saw Transformers on TV. Before that I saw them on VHS, my local video shops had tones of G1 VHS's to rent. I was born in 84 so I missed the first run on TV.

I remember watching Seasons 1-3 on Channel 10 during the 1980s, but never saw Season 4. I only got to see that when I acquired it on VHS in 1988 - in that hilarious jacket which shows artwork from Heavy Metal War. And the audio after episode 1 has the music and sound effects in the foreground and the dialogue in the background, so it sounded like this:

DUN! DUN! DUN! DUN! DUN! DUN! DAH-DAH-DUN! VVZZZZ CHOMP! CHOMP!
"open the hatch! anything you put in there will totally scramble the machine's circuits!"
    WHOOOSH!
    "like what?!"
    "like your fist!"
    "oh!"

    KA-POOWWWWW!

It's weird that I don't recall much past season one. Watched the early bird show religiously until it became club ten in 88?

Would have had to have seen some of season three then.

Does anyone recall seeing the 86 movie on release?
