    Rare earth magnets are commonly used in computer hard drives to work the actuator that the heads are attached to. Scavage some old drives if you want to cheap it.

    Just don't sit them anywhere else you'd sit an unsheilded magnet such as tvs, phones, etc.

    And yea, be careful to not get your fingers inbetween them, and keep away from kids.

    They'll be fine on your toys, just be careful about thin plastic, basically be mindful of the forces you'll need to put on parts to remove them when the magnets are drawing each other.

    Also, you could make a pretty powerful magnetic missile launcher.
