It's not a very sophisticated set up. Got a small, cheap air compressor for about $150, and a no-name brand (literally has no discernible branding on it) airbrush for $40. Its a workhorse, not particularly precise, but I've been able to get reasonable results with practice. Its a dual action gravity feed airbrush - IMHO there's not much point in getting a single action if you're at all serious about airbrushing. The dual action takes practice, but a skill worth learning for customising.

I have a principle that if I'm taking up a hobby, I will try and not spend too much in case in the initial stages in case I don't go on with it. Case in point, I have a mate who's an artist who dabbled in airbrushing and bought a pretty expensive one and it has sat in his garage unused for a couple of years. He's toyed with the idea of passing it to me for safe keeping (), which has made me hold back on buying a better, more expensive one up until now.
